I have been noticing that across the board on my websites dramatic ranking drops in the past 2 days.

30% of websites have lost rankings. I'm talking a position decrease of 20-60. Sites that were in the top 3, now banished to page 7.

Looking online I can see only a handful of other webmasters reporting similar.

Google is obviously in the middle of an algorithm update.

My suspicion is it's low content related. Or possibly backlink penalty related as I have used BHW link building packages on majority of my sites.

Thoughts?

Who else is experiencing the same?

Could be coming in and rolling up now , but I think its update .

Yes there is an Google update in May month therefore its happening. Wait for few days may be its get ranked.

From what I can see, it seems this update is effecting low DA sites.

Sites with DA 0-4 have completely dropped off the map. DA 5+ have had minimal changes.

From what I can tell from my data (500+ websites) is the effects are site wide.

Majority of the sites are EMD micro niche sites, or EMD local business sites.
All sites effected are low DA. <5 DA.
All sites effected have backlink packages from reputable BHW sellers.

Site content varies, but most sites hit may be considered "low value content" given majority of posts are < 400 words.

It appears what is being favored now is higher DA authority sites that have a single page on the topic.

mykeyword.com -> significant drop in rankings
authoritysite.com/pages/my-keyword -> significant boost in rankings

This is all that I've got so far. If anyone else has some insights, please share.

one of site got boosted a bit and some others are drops

Yes, several of my websites, including those of competitors, experienced a significant drop in traffic after the update in March.

Many of mine were also hit in March update. Fortunately in 1-2 weeks they had recovered.

I haven't seen anything yet. Perhaps because I'm in Western Europe. Sometimes, the effects are delayed for us.

Contrary to what you have said ... I have seen a sudden hike in ranking ... but yes I am seeing several people saying the same. I believe it is because of backlinks, because on this website I have never done any backlink building before ...

Home and garden niche seeing some shake up right now.

One my site down 20% the other up 5%

But competitors are all over the place, many small websites all of a sudden page 3 since may 4th.

------------
Practically seen no changes across certain pets niche stuff,

lot more movement than normal in travel to me, site up 30%, but all competitors I have are up.

Seems like the bigger sites are giving up rankings across the travel keywords I track.

For now I have several websites. One manually written and ones AI and all of the are ok.
Not even one dropping down.

English and foreign sites.

DA of them is mostly lower than 10.

All of the websites have drip feed content daily or weekly.
No backlinking was done on them in the past.

I agree.

Sites with higher DA that I have not done backlink campaigns in years have remained in their top positions.

Lower DA sites 1-2 years old that have had BHW diversity link campaigns have all dropped off the map.

I wonder if a disavow submission would fix this? Will wait a few more days for dust to settle before taking any action.

One of my websites which was one page 5 or 6 for its keywords is now in the #1 spot for a medium difficulty keyword.

All I used was a diversity package.

strange

It might be the most bizarre update of all times. I can't see any logic, here. Some websites that go BH at full scale received a boost and started ranking for new, sometimes unexpected keywords, while a few old seasoned WH websites with a good authority have begun to sink, despite being as immaculate as the driven snow. What I see is happening is not even consistent with the hypotheses above. It looks about as random as can be.
