I have heard that google loves videos. But does it matter how the videos are placed on my site? For instance does it make a difference if they are hosted on my domain rather than embedded from a video hosting site like youtube ??

Thanks,

wow, that's actually a good question. Why not just be safe and upload it to youtube first?

Host it from Youtube . . . and most importantly, use your main keyword in the title of the video, and get some highly relevant keywords to put in the video description and the tags. Use as many relevant keywords as you can in the tags. Use a mix of both broad and specific keywords.

NOTE: I was just listening to an audio teleseminar from Mixergy in which they were interviewing Damien - the guy who does the production and optimization for the super popular Youtube series, "Ask A N-I-N-J-A", and that was the advice he gave. He should know. The videos he does always get around 6 million views

Hope that helps - "Wiz"

ive been seeing some bump from linking back and forth from youtube. no big secret im sure. but tonight im going to sit down, drink beer, watch football and make some stupid videos i can tag and link each of my sites up to them and ping the shit out of them.

I havent been using videos so far... But now I am planning to do it for my site.

I am 100% sure that it would be much better if you host it on Youtube. Mainly because YouTube is a high PR website and Google loves it so so much...

Thanks guys for your input.
My videos are only going to be visible to those that pay for the membership to get access to them. I can make a promotional video to throw on youtube. But these particular ones will be only visible to members. So I was just curious what would be best for SEO purposes with these videos. Self hosted or embedded from a video sharing site. There are reasons why I won't be using youtube but will instead be using viddler. Sadly that may effect my SEO rank in a bad way maybe using viddler instead of youtube ???? Not sure.

there are only 3 reasons not to host your video on youtube
a. your video is porn
b. your video is copyrighted by someone else
c. you are selling the video
if a,b,c != true
then host on youtube

Hi - This may seem like a really dumb question but if I go back and re-title and re-tag all my videos even the ones that are over 3 years old will this technique work?

Thanks
