There's nothing wierd about that.

Cleanly coded HTML pages will *always* load faster than Wordpress content.


Of course.... optimized HTML is always better than wordpress.

Gave you thanks and Rep, Virus1. This was a great find and came just as I am struggling with my WP blogs. Hostmonster is throttling me for taking too much server time and having too many files and Databases. I am going to implement the suggestions in that article.

Too bad that google determines site speed via google chrome users. So if your visitors have crap connection computer etc your speed decreases.

Why would google use their users if they have own crawler?
