How do I handle a customer that has 20 stores over the whole country?
Can I use a different Google Maps account for each store?

In my opinion - I supervise 4 locations in three different cities.

Unless you are really good (and because of your question, maybe you are not) I would have a different website for each location. ie JoesBarAtlanta.com. I have a problem with two of my locations sharing the same website and the ranking in the cities is bad.

If you can locate the Google Places listing in Google (use name and zip code for search)) you are pretty much on your way, if not here are some tips.

Every location has to have it's own local phone number (the one in the print phone book) and address. The name should be also be the one in the phone book. Google verification would probably be by postcard to the location which you some how need to retrieve. Every location should have its own email address so that you can confirm citations. It should not be a big deal, it would just take some time.

I do local seo for a company and some of our clients have multiple locations. You can manage multiple locations under one gmail account no problem. Just try to keep up with the reviews and add content each month to maintain your ranking or move up.

Do the multiple locations show up in Google Places? I though GP would allow only one location? That's awesome if that can be done.

Just upload the proper data file (at least 10 location) and you fine with one email and one websites. For data file no verification :) I did few months a go this way. If any change in the system since that time, I'm sorry

im not following you here? whats the data file? and where is it uploaded?

I would advise you to do this.

Create 20 PVA Google Accounts

Create 20 Landing Pages
http://www.clientwebsite.com/CityName/
Make sure the address and phone is on the page above the fold.
If you can put reviews, hours, services etc.. on this page and of course the offer/incentive to call/visit

Create 20 Google Places Listings

Each Location Has Unique Phone Number

Each Location Has Unique Address

It is always good to split up the accounts vs doing a bulk upload whenever you can. I do that as much as possible and have a few clients with 40+ locations all on unique G accounts it is fine. Knowing how buggy G places is I do not want to compromise all my locations if one of them gets flagged for some stupid reason.

I've never heard of that, but I'll dig around. Sounds pretty easy. Thanks!
