Hey, anyone know a hack for the the google local directory listing. Anyone know how to bring a listing up to the top 4 that show up on searches?

Willing to pay for knowledge! $$$$

search for ukescuba - he has a site with tutorials on this subject

It takes time. That is unless there is low competition for that keyword in that market. It is actually quite simple to optimize a profile. Just very time consuming work.

Here is what you do.

1) Create the profile- good content, fill everything out, put pictures videos.
2) Create profiles that are EXACTLY the same on local directories(just search the "city + directory, and you will find a ton of them), social bookmarks, blogs, videos ect... Another trick is to look at the people in the ten box, and look where their backlinks are coming from. Mirror them.

Backlinks are very important. The only thing that is different is you don't need your link in the backlink profiles, you need the address, and name of the business. That is what Googles serps pick up on.
3) Reviews- stagger reviews through out the month(s). Create gmail accounts on different IPs, and write them for the business. They are very important for ranking.

Other stuff you can do. Create a twitter, and Facebook with your business profile. Videos are good. You can create videos for free at animoto.com. Also, use blogs, and optimize them like you would any other blog. Make sure that the address, phone#, business name are in the blog. Ping them, social bookmark ect.

Good sites for backlinks:
insiderpages.com
yelp.com
local.yahoo.com
superpages.com
yellowpages.com
kudzo.com
pricelocal.com
findoha.com
macraebluebook.com
hotfrog.com
infousa.com
merchantcircle.com

That is really it. Pretty simple, just time consuming. If you have any further questions. Fire away.

thanks very much, Jstover77. I will try this way and report it later!

It is an awesome course. I have it:)

Yes, very time consuming, but worth the work. You can always outsource the work once you figure it all out.

Wow thanks.... yah i saw this on the 10box videos..... very time consuming, but hey, whatever it takes right?

hey- just a heads up- the google maps cash product has a new URL: easylocalcash.com

In addition to getting the links that are suggested, of crucial importance is getting lots of positive reviews for your business. I've noticed this being a significant ranking factor in the local positions in the last year or so. We focused one of my local clients heavily on getting reviews in yelp, citysearch, etc and she shot up the rankings...
