I know using Squidoo and HubPages are great for increasing traffic to my blog but I just discovered Google Knols which looks similar as well.

Does anyone know anything about Google Knols and if it's something worth using?

Obviously using Google to increase traffic is a sure bet but I'm wondering if I should actually spend time using this Knols site to increase traffic.

Any thoughts would be great. Thanks! :)

I have seen an complete "website" if you can call that, based on Google Knol.

He was ranking at a lot of German Long Term keywords, with ScrapeBox blasting OR High PR Backlinks, I forgot where caught him spamming..

His site has NO unique content, only fetched products from Amazon.

/** I just found his site again, he has moved from "Google Knol" to "Google sites". I just have send you a PM with the URL. He hasn't any Page Rank at all, but he is ranking. He is using a lot of long term, low competition keywords. I'm sure if you combine them all, you get a pretty nice amount of visitors.

Like any other free network you run the risk of getting banned if your page looks spammy. Sometimes you can slip them through and sometimes you can't. Treat it like you would any other web 2.0 network like blogspot and wordpress.com. Just another site for you to get backlinks from.

Don't really rely too much on this particular web 2.0 site. As the above poster said, your account might get banned (even if its unique content) I think they are cracking the ones who build "link wheels"..

    just my opinion.

Google knol and google sites were very good for promoting your blogs and even ranking on their own but their power is on the wain and Google are getting really tight and banning sites at the drop of a hat or a cookie ;)

As already mentioned putting any time and faith into sites you do not control is a bit dangerous unlless you are looking for a hit and run

I just submit all my ezine and articlesbase content to knol for extra backlinks. You get some drip drop traffic from duplicate content knols but you could also get some adsense revenue which works.

I say don't bother with the google sites so much and just post your blog comments, squidoo lenses, hubpages, articles, and whatever else suitable content you have as knols.

My account has been open for a year and a half and I have never got a ban.

just the same like any other web 2.0, don't think to much, post some articles there, and come back from time to time to post more, you'll have good backlinks...
