Couple minutes ago I just checked into google keywords tool and keyword planer is now used as default.

Code:

It's garbage, for me when I change to exact with the new keyword planner it just stays broad searches. I also can't check the different keywords I want, I don't see that.

yea this new keyword planner going to take awhile to get use to ive got to fire up my keyword tools and see if it f'd those up to

Not to worry there are other researchers that we can use but yeah not so much accurate

Its not too hard to learn how to use, there is certain syntax you have to use to get broad or exact results. IMO the Planner has a nicer UI and is more effective if you take some time to learn how to use it.

Yeah its actually garbage. . a big step down, and i'm pretty pissed by this.

Use the pencil on the right (think cog widget on gmail) to get the 'broad' and 'exact' results. Thing is the results are the same, so no idea why that option is even there. Maybe " " and [] are the syntax kinda like the qualifiers on google search. . I'll check it later.

But honestly I used this piece of shit, and the suggestions they give me are just awful. Low crappy keywords, lots more messing around to get results that i'm looking for. . .and for what. . so that they can collect more personal data and try to get you to use adwords more. Meh. . .come on make a better product.

Wat's wrong with google keyword planner tool.....Now what does Matt says :p

what he would say...
We made this change to ensure that internet marketers get the best out of our tool.

The scene behind the curtain is different here!

People HAS TO register to google's keyword tool (logging in using their gmail account) and then google will send them coupons to start their adwords compaigns, some people might find that they are getting some ROI using that adwords advertisement and they will spend some $$ on Google!

Simple as that.

You might see a next update where google will show +1 button next to each keyword in that tool! lol

MAYBE, Google wants to make their keyword tool more targeted for adwords users rather than SEO-ers.

That is exactly the answer, coupled with collecting data on the side. But if you notice the move. . its great for buying adwords. They target small long tail better and you can probably increase your clicks etc.

What it does to a person doing SEO is block them from seeing quality high volume results. Thus i'm hunting for high search numbers. . not targeted users. . well thats gone. They give me back shit results compared to the old tool.

Honestly i can guess high volume results for my keyword better then they will ever report back to me now. Time to get a new tool if your not buying adwords.

All in all its a win for google. They will increase revenue in a number of ways.
1 - force you to use their interior system and dedicate time, more likely to transfer in and buy
2 - give better targeted results to those who buy adwords, thus people buy more and compete more increasing bids and revenue
3 - collect your data to their database for better targeted advertising to the user in multiple ways.
4 - collect aggregate data to be a better predictor of patterns in large data that are useful for a lot of reasons
5 - knock back the people doing SEO because seo people are of little value to the big G. They don't pay them any money, and if you game the system you help to disrupt their credibility.

All in all no need to bitch. . whose got a better solution now. I'm started looking at sem rush. Anyone else want to chime in a good way to find other high volume keywords related to your niche now that the old gw kw tool is gone?

. . btw. . All the results in the new keyword planner are exact match. When you change the tool to another option like 'broad match' it only effects the cpc and other metrics that actual buyers might use.
