Google Keyword Tool - Trying Not to Panic

I use the Google Keyword Tool all the time to help me to prioritize which articles I should write for my blog. However, I got a real slap in the face a couple of days ago when they removed it! The new tool is completely lame and has bad numbers in it and much much less data. I can't believe Google is going to do this to us!

Anway, I can still access the keyword tool by logging out of my Google account. But some day that is going to end and I don't know what I am going to do to find out the same information.

What are you guys doing? going to do?

Just noticed this myself couple days back - utter bullcrap. Nice to know that the old one still works, but as you said it's just a matter of time when they remove it - and then I guess that's it.

Tip: Just run new incognito window so no need to logout ;) I know it's not a big deal, but still.

That's exactly what I was doing. It sounds like a decent tool is KeywordDiscovery. They have a free trial, but it's expensive w/o that. Anybody try that? Does the free trial work pretty well for the small user?
 
Keyword Planner still seems pretty good to generate keywords.I don't get what's the big deal,maybe there's something i'm missing ?

Are you using the tool for AdWords or SEO? I'm assuming its for SEO. In that case, the tool provides the same amount of use as does the old one its just more geared toward AdWords users.
I'm not sure how you were using the old tool or the new one for keyword research but as long as you can still see search volume and get keyword ideas, those two things are really all SEO's can get out of the tool anyway. The keyword planner gives exactly the same information.

If you don't like the new format, there are a ton of keyword software programs out there that you can look into.

I need accurate results. It's not a matter of adapting. It's a matter of whether I have to fly blind or have some navigational controls.

Thx. I cannot get it to return the same results though.

And I am using the old adwords keyword tool at this URL. It is fantastic and give solid results.


If you could say more about how to get the same results, I would really appreciate it.

Google sent me a notice on June that they would turn off the Google Keyword Tool and use Keyword Planner instead on July.

They are taking the traffic volumes from the same database which gets updated constantly.
No other tool can give you more accurate results then their own.
 
All the keyword finder softwares, use google keyword tool. lol

That's how it's supposed to work and that's how you and I would do it, but many bloggers have written about this problem.

Let me give you an example so you have a heads up what is going on. Right now if I go into the old Keyword Tool, I can do the following keyword combos and find total global monthly searches:

fda approval process 4400
fda recent approvals 210
fda history 2900
fda home page 880

Now let's say I want to go into the new keyword planner.

So I go to Tools and Analysis and then I click on Keyword Tool. Does it take me to the old Keyword Tool like you would expect? No! Instead it takes me to Keyword Planner, which is a piece of crap unless I am really missing something.

Here is what happens. I go into "Search for key word and ad ideas" and enter the above keyword combos. Guess what I get?

They only give me IDEAS. They never actually return my results for the above. The force me into their own keyword combos and do NOT give you their data.

If anyone knows a way around this, I would appreciate it. I see lots of guys complaining about it and am hoping one of you has a nifty trick?

Yeah, I see guys posting about this. Don't know anything about it. From what I've read, KeywordDiscovery is the only really good tool out there, but I'm open to other ideas. But I'd like to know also if anyone has gotten the KeywordPlanner to work.
 
Keyword tool is still there for a little while at least-->

go to the tab on top ->"tool and analysis" ->keyword tool

I think you have not been converted yet. When I do this, I do not get the keyword tool. It shuttles me into the "keyword planner" which is not the same at all.

You can't be serious, that would be like throwing money down the drain. At this point in time, until the smoke clears, only a fool would buy a 3rd party keyword tool. With the imminent demise of the Google Keyword Tool, the 3rd party keyword tools that pull data from Google might collapse with it. It's too soon to tell, but when GKT dies, there's a chance you might see the employees who work for service providers like Market Samurai standing in the unemployment line. And that would suit Google.
 
Keyword planner is same as the Keyword tool..

Learn to play it. Learn and Adapt.

I am now using it, same as the old keyword tool.
