I know this topic has been cover many times but could you say that the Google keyword tool is accurate based on your personnal experiences?

Dont tell us your niche, keywords, etc...

Based on your websites that are ranked well, Are you getting the kind of traffic the Google keyword tool was telling you?

As for me, I am habitually getting MORE traffic than expected looking through the broad/exact searches using Google Adword keyword tool.

You first share your experience...

On average, on the sites that have bigger amounts of traffic, I get 20-25% more than stated in adwords.

I've found Adwords to be completely off. I've reached no.1 position for keywords receiving 11,000 exact searches a month. I was getting between 50-100 visits out of it.

Same across the board.

I believe the theory for this is that Adwords keyword tool gets its data from search partners as well as the main Google search. Search partners are people who include Google search on their site. This can skew results a bit.

There is the Google alternative: www [dot] google [dot] com / sktool

Number one position should normally get around 40-50% of the expected exact traffic. :) So your number is not too far off.

Google quietly updated the numbers in the keyword tool late last week, which brought about numerous reports of huge drops in search traffic numbers on forums and industry websites, and speculation that the keyword tool was broken.

Also use the Search-based Keyword Tool to backup your research on AdWords Keyword Tool and you should be fine.
Worst case scenario - 50% of the predicted search volume is what you should prepare yourself for....

I think it is fairly accurate based on my experiences, but I know many people who have had exceptions. There are hiccups here and there for sure.

Never mind :D....

I wrote I was angry with google becoz my keyword that had 60K search exact now only has 200.....

But I just did some test searching big keywords like dog, money etc..... all of them show something like 300K searches per month?!

THAT CANT BE RIGHT ???? RIGHT GUYS?

:D Maybe my key will still get like half the traffic I shown a few days ago....wish me luck and I wish you all luck too with your keywords and ventures.

The changes that google have made to their keyword tool as of yesterday has really fu*%ed me off. Bought a domain name with 1.5 million global hits and 70k in UK. Once the new more accurate (According to latest Tech articles on SEO) had been released the search volume has dropped to 490 global and only 12 in UK.

Who else has had this?

It has been a good general guide. I doubt anything out there is very accurate across all different keyword sets and regions.

I weigh this tool with one or two others to get a more accurate picture.

Said it before guys but the adword tool is different from this tool http://www.google.com/sktool/#

That said, this tool can be accurate at showing high searched terms but not at actual figures
