Hi I tried using the google keyword planner after a long time, but it's telling me I can't use it unless I have at least one running campaign. Does that mean the days of using google keyword planner for free are over or am I missing something? Just wanted to find out the popularity of two different spellings of the same word, Tajwid and Tajweed

It's been fairly shit for a long time... Literally the only good thing left in there was keyword ideas and there are much better tools for that now.

The only good thing about it is the estimated monthly searches of the keywords, so you can get a rough idea of what you are targeting and unfortunately it's the only source I trust (because it's from Google), although the figures sometimes are way off.

Ah, you ran into that message as well? Did you by any chance search for the Google Keyword Planner in Google? Go to it directly using this URL: https://adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner

I occasionally go to the Keyword Planner using Google's Search (a bad ahbit, I know), but I clicked on a link in Google's search results the other day and received that message. When I went to the Keyword Planner directly, the message never appeared again. It's still free to use, in case you're wondering.

If you still get the message even after visiting the Keyword Planner directly, try clearing your cache.

yea that links been working for me for a while now... i still use it till this day

Can you name one that's better and gives you monthly searches as well. I honestly don't know. I'm not that good at keyword research.

Keyword planner is still solid and if used in conjunction with any one other of the gobs of tools available for keywords is still just fine.

The truth is whatever you use, they all fetch data from google. At the end of the day, we all are looking to rank on google. So no matter what your best source of data is kw planner. Tools like longtailpro can ease your pain though. Or you can try keyword revealer or keywordstudio. Mind you, they all are paid services.

nearly every tool fetches kw data/metrics from the Google KWP except a few ones such as jaaxy that use dogpile.

Long Tail Pro seems really expensive for what I'm trying to do, I could never justify it to cover the cost at this stage of my online journey. Although you read everywhere people making thousands over night, have been trying to making some sort of income online line since October 2015 only managed a few pounds here and there, so I don't think I'm ready to commit $30 dollars a month for a tool. I just purchased MassPlanner a couple of months back, after some folks on here recommended it, which over delivers for the price, awesome tool and just got a thrivethemes membership.

What tools would you recommend for someone starting out that don't have hefty monthly recurring fees

You can try keyword revealer, they will let you search limited amounts of keywords for free daily and decide for yourself if you want to sign up for monthly or not.

I use Google Keyword planner every day and I haven't had a running campaign for years - I've been banned from using Adwords but I can still use the keyword tool.

Tajwid = 260, Tajweed = 1000 (United States)
Tajwid = 33100, Tajweed = 8100 (All Locations)

I have had the same trouble with it asking for me to create a campaign. Semalt has been just as useful if not moreso for me, especially when it comes to tracking my positions.
