Well guys, I've just discovered a painful fact for many "white hat" guys is Google is still manipulate by black hat.
I do a search on google to day for the clickbank keyword that i'm promoting. surprisingly, a blogspot site appear at the top of the serp. It has:
- less than 200 words in the post
- No value of the content (simply a link to vendor site)
- Less than 3 weeks old (created since 31 Jul)
- 1200 links from spam posts in forums (almost d0f0low)

So white hat guys, please explain me what the use of:
- provide useful content?
- build link slowly, naturally?
- links from trusted sites?
- Link with high PR?

and tons of "advice" I've heard.
I'm not going to discuss about the conversion rate here because site like this will have very small conversion rate.
This phenomenon is not from one sites but many similar sites i'm sure from 1 guy.
So why we should be white hat?

Google will never be able to rid its world of people trying to exploit their service. No matter what google tries, there will always be someone out there coming up with a very deliberate method to rank on top of the SERPS.

But the spammer in this case uses xrumer blatantly. What is the google update? BS millions times

Google has to be VERY careful when updating. Its a multi BILLION dollar industry.

Whitehat will always make more money. Blackhat is just a drop in the ocean

Although its a rather large drop and it means i dont have to get up for "work" in the mornings :D

I am very new, but from what I have read and experienced, this person probably spent $30 and 1 hour. He will probably make that in a few minutes.

I am trying my first site and if I get 2 leads, it will pay for everything and then some. If I can spend 5 days at #1, I will probably make a few thousand. My site will then go away and I will start over.

The difference is that white hat sites will usually be around longer than black hat sites, and in many cases are much more set and forget.

I highly doubt that that blogger blog will still be there in a few months.

yeah, white hat always wins in long road term..i'm sure blak hat can make you rich instantly but you can defend it when google make updating and you will get affcted from there

Well thanks for the update because I been sandboxed a few times because of backlinks building quickly. Slow and natural will win the race. However I don't have patience.

What about applying blackhat to an old site that has been using Whitehat for years?

Thats the best way i think

If you do anything other than creating better user experience, you are doing illegal stuff by the google definition.
So whitehat is limited to tags, meta, sitespeed and honest content written from the urge to share information, not because it's the scheduled posting day in calendar.
Anything aimed to improving your site to perform better in serps is blackhat. Any linkbuilding is blackhat. Any competitor spying is blackhat. Rss - blackhat. Thinking about keywords - blackhat. Knowing what tags to use for better ranking - blackhat.
If you want to perform better then go for it (blackhat). If not go do something else, because you wouldnt get any results with whitehat only.
Wondering about blackhat and not doing anything, is like sex for impotent - you want to do it, you know how to do it, you see other do it, but you dont do it. :)
So dont be impotent and s*rew g**g*e

It comes down to what you want personally. I don't intend to ever create a second wikipedia, but when I make a site and put content on it I try to make sure that it actually gives the information that someone wants when they type in that keyword. I think as long as you do that you shouldn't feel bad about whatever methods you're using to rank.

Guys,
What is the point of long run if you can get hundreds if not thousands if your site stays at the #1 only in few days?
People doing white hat because they fear of "google penalty". Now I know there is no such penalty.
the only penalty is the cowardliness of people who doing SEO.
Just my 2 cent.
