This is a known issue since june of this year however not much discussion anywhere on the net about updates on the matter or why its being done?

Apparently many high quality sites even or older sites are suddenly having tons of pages deindexed, is it a technical thing?

I have a 2 month old blog with high quality 1500 word unique posts, no backlink spam and initially crawling was up, then it dwindled to nothing and only the homepage is indexed.

Also noticed they have introduced a handful of new features on GSC im wondering if they are so focused on this that they wont tend to the indexing issue thats affecting a multitude of sites?

Yes it’s happening due to millions of AI based pages have started appearing online, Google does have their crawl budget optimisation.

It takes them their resources for analysing a page. If the page will have value, it will automatically get indexed soon due to other people sharing or mentioning their links here and there.

Google indexing has slowed since June 2025, affecting even quality sites. It's likely due to algorithm shifts, crawl budget changes, or GSC updates. If only your homepage is indexed, boost internal links, share on socials, and get backlinks. Manually request indexing and monitor crawl stats to improve visibility.

Google is not against quality ai articles though: https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2023/02/google-search-and-ai-content

Yes even quality sites, so it seems like a major technical problem lasting over a month and a half now that is scarcely discussed anywhere. Im surprised i havent seen more complaints and discussion on this and not just on BHW but anywhere besides some headlines on SEroundtable and other seo news sites

Lately, Google seems to be acting weird. Even good sites are losing indexed pages for no clear reason. Maybe it's a bug, or maybe their new updates are just too strict right now. For your blog, I’d keep an eye on it, manually request indexing for your best posts in GSC, and wait it out. A lot of people are dealing with this, so hopefully, Google sorts it out soon.

Build strong internal links to new posts and get a few real backlinks to boost crawl priority.
Also, group content by topic to build authority and improve indexing chances.

The reason is many sites switched to AI and adding too many pages fast. Google cannot index all.
