WhenU Adware Program provides click fraud in AdWords, Google without intervening. Advertisers pay for worthless clicks, Google and fills his pockets, an American professor believes.
According to Harvard professor Ben Edelman Google is almost one years at the height of WhenU, a program that presents AdWords links. If WhenU installed on a computer, it appears while browsing an overlay window with sponsored links.
WhenU also displays links to sponsor sites where the Internet user already has arrived, and especially since the shoe pinches. Someone already on the site of Continental Airlines, will also display an overlay ads from Continental. Continental itself which links pay per click for.
Spyware pop-ups
"This is a bad deal for Continental," Edelman wrote in his blog. "First, because an advertiser would have to pay for traffic that he has inside. Besides earning companies that buy AdWords ads of high quality, no spyware, pop-ups."
Edelman says Google has been informed in February to have the conversion of inflation syndication fraud, as he calls it. As yet there is little action taken by the Internet giant. The Register of Google got no response to a request for comment.
Compensate victims
Edelman that Google is the relationship with the companies behind should break WhenU, and advertising to compensate injured. So far that has happened only 1 time, while many more companies have filed complaints, said the professor.
WhenU is an adware program that has long been controversial. In 2003, the program, which was then bundled with Kazaa, unsuccessfully sued for popups ads pasted on rivals.
Search engines Google and Yahoo in 2004 were already at loggerheads with WhenU. The adware program trying through cloaking high in the search results to come, so as to get more users. In response, Google and Yahoo removed all links to WhenU.
