Google is capping traffic of my Website

Google is capping traffic to my site . I was getting 1000 visitors daily form google from 50+ search terms . One day on of the keyword on which i am rankings was in trends , so that day also i got 1000 visitors but 900 from that single term and all the traffic from other terms was capped by google .

After few weeks i successfully ranked another keyword but , due to that i losses traffic from other terms . So anybody has experienced similar things. Any advice on how to getting out of it will be great help.

Almost sounds like a server issue? What is your bandwith per day?
 
No server issue .. i have a 2 tier VPS from Hostwinds ..Working great..
 
Well i must say i have something similar going with my site..i have cappd at around 500 per dayand the funny thing since i have hit 500 per day i have ranked main kw to no.2 and few other keywords from 10th place to 2-3....but i thought its seasonal thing since its a product mostly bought in summer but now you got me thinking that maybe its something else..i will watch this closely for sure
 
OP, you are Crazy Buddy, you need to look at other factors if you have noticed a decrease in traffic.

How do you imagine this whole capping? "Ooh, he got enough traffic, lets give it someone else now!"

Yeah man, capping for traffic is such a new term to describe Google changes.

Must be a new Google update called Fair Share Update to distribute the traffic fairly to all websites. ;)
 
Definitely not going to be the case. Forget about that theory completely and look at other factors. There must be another reason why this is happening.

Maybe it's niche term and same people are searching several places to find results? So changes in serp positions changes amount of searches (more people finding info faster)? That might be just as unlikely but there must be some explanation.
 
Fun fact: if you search for "Google Capping Traffic" in Google, this Black Hat World thread now appears in the 3rd position.

It must be keyword popularity and trending issues, nothing to do with Google directly capping your visitation.
 
He's not wrong, Google have been doing this for years. They use traffic throttling, one keyword will drop while another will increase to cap traffic to websites, why they do who knows, it could be to keep the playing field somewhat level or to increase spend on their core business model: ads. Look up threads on webmasterworld with Ted and you will find lots of information on it, I could never be bothered to do more research but Google has been doing this dirty trick for a long time.

I think bartosimpsonio would have some interesting insight into what you said about Google trying to get more webmasters to use Adwords.
