Google is acting crazy - Please help

Hello all

I have been trying to rank an ezine article for a long time now. It was sitting at 11 for a keyword yesterday. I checked it today using google ad preview tool and it was at 2nd. Great news I thought, even called up a buddy of mine to share the good news.

He checked it half hour later and said it was still in 11th. I checked it again and it was at 11th :-(.

Please note that I was using the Google ad preview tool as I don't reside in the U.S. I know rankings can show up funny if you have web history enabled or have a gmail account but I have none of those and was using Google ad preview tool.

Can somebody share something on this please.
