Google indexation mystery

So I'm now stumped and looking for input from experienced SEOers.
I created a profile page on a highly rated site.
It wasn't indexed after a while, so I contributed to a community post, the post links to my profile page.
The post page was indexed but the profile page wasn't, even though there is a link from the post page to the profile page.
I checked the profile page and there is NO noindex tag.
Doesn't Google just follow links as it crawls? I'm very confused.

Getcrawled has managed to index other profile pages that were nowhere near as high profile.
Experienced SOErs help would be very much appreciated.

Generally profile pages are thin content hence the non indexation. Having said that there are other more "persuasive" ways to get it to index.
 
There's no guarantee that any page will get indexed, to quote Google:

"Google doesn't crawl all the pages on the web, and we don't index all the pages we crawl." (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/34441?hl=en)

If it's a new profile page, it might just take some more time. Check if there are other new (or any) profile pages from the same site getting indexed.

They didn't on their own, and they didn't when prompted, so might have to resort to more aggressive methods if they don't index within a week, I think
 
Depends on the site, give it a bit more time.

Yes, some of the profile pages on the same site have been indexed.
 
Do you have a way to add more content? Fill up the about section or whatever you have with a lot more words... Basically put 1k words in your profile page somewhere and it should index.. Put a picture as well,

The link on the page that is indexed means Google has or will crawl the profile page.

They may have decided not to index it (yet or maybe never)

the other thing is you need to make sure Google has recrawled the community site after your link was put on it.

Like others have said it may just need more time

I thought anywhere upwards of 300 words would have been enough, but I'll try 1000.
Yes the page linking to my profile page has been re-indexed.

I noticed in one of the recent link shares that @Rachmaninoff did he was recommending that and based on the links he was sharing he knows a lot more than me :)
