Any PHP coder can build his/her own hotfeed script by going to IBM's Developerworks and picking up the free PHP source code for a customizable RRS feed aggregator.
It's core is :
cURL
SimpleXML
PHP arrays

I don't know what I am doing wrong, but I have tried this method and had no luck. I don't know if I am not getting google to index the site or what. I found a low-competitive keyword, which was "mega millions winning numbers 82809" and put a blog up with that same name, threw some content up that I got from a blog that was #1 in the google trends and pinged, bookmarked it and didn't get any hops from it? What am I doing wrong?

From your post I can see a number of things which you did wrong.
1.
"mega millions winning numbers 82809" is NOT one of the 100 google hot trend search terms here in nthe hot trends feed :
or the same list here as a web page :

Your blog name hasn't got anything to do with it. It could have been thelatestgossipandrumours.com or anycrapname.com. Doesn't matter.
The titles of your blog posts and the content of your blogposts do matter however.
The title of your blogpost should contain all the words of one keyphrase from the Hot Trend Feed.
At this time the #1 hot trend is "duggars 19th child", so the title of your blog post should contain this phrase in whatever word sequence. But exact match (in that sequence) is best.
Click on any of the keyphrases of the feed URL to see what I mean.
You'll see the Google news entries for that search phrase.
Just download the Ewen Chia training I linked. He is offering it for free. And for once it is not all complete crap. It is easy to follow, do and repeat.
If you want it almost fully automated, check post #58 of this thread.
You need to find a way to make your ads contextual to the hot trend keyphrase.
Now if the writer of the hotfeed script would get his act together I could recommend it, but I'm refusing to do that at the moment.

At the time, the term was #2, this was a few days ago when I did this blog. Thanks for the tips, Ill give it another try and see where it goes.

Update: I've created 2 blogger blogs over the last 2 days. Earnings - $0.01.
I haven't been able to do a lot of promo, I've pinged using pringler, but haven't done any bookmarking (still trying to figure out the best solution to do that).
btw, should I be using proxy when I am doing this. And do I need brand new blogger accounts every time I create a new blog?

I never had to do any promotion. Whatever you do, avoid the plugin "Twitter Poster". Just check what people say under "See what others are saying...".
Just download the free course from Ewen Chia, it has a 5 page PDF with 7 easy steps to take, and 7 videos of each step. There is nothing more to it. This forum has far more advanced stuff available for free.
You can go through it in half an hour to an hour. In step one he already makes some suggestions on how to monetise the hot trend keywords. For one time, no long-winded self-proclaimed Guru bullcrap.
But I still found it difficult to monetise hot trend traffic.
(Not so) freebies, and risk free trials worked best for me.

I tried this method before with hotfeed. with making my own WP site got some great traffic for about a week. Than it just died and did not get any more searches. So I made another site to try it again and it got indexed than deindexed almost within a week as well. Now I've been doing this with creating a whole bunch of web 2.0 sites for about a week pinging them and social bookmarking (only takes 5 mins to do) and than pinging the social bookmarks. Still finding it hard to rank for any volcanic keyword. :/
