Well, it is admitted that Jacko nearly killed the web. I was targeting
'search', not content. They just didn't run, at all! I had 'em running
more than a week after... 0 impressions.

I'm not scared of Google. Google should be scared of legislation
from the scum in Washington. They have more to loose than I...

There was such a huge influx of advertisers going after Adwords when MJ died that the prices were insane for most keywords. Not to mention you had to beat out countless others.

I find it funny that people are talking about Google conspiracy theories and stuff like that. Google is the biggest SE, there's no doubt. And yes they change their rules a lot and do a lot of things that are irritating to say the least, But you have 2 choices:

1. Run away scared, complain, give up.

2. Accept it and use them to make money.

Yeah, exactly.

Search is a lot more expensive than content. Like I said, the competition was probably too high, so even though your campaign was active, no one saw your ads since they were probably on like page 200 or something.

No one goes that far, especially for something like MJ's death. They will stay on the first few pages.
