A new website with just a few backlinks and some social activities.... went upto first page of google in no time.... Enjoyed the whole week of traffic and then out of the rankings... Lolz... I enjoyed the honeymooon....

The ranking that I got is Google Honeymoon right?

Has anyone else experienced "Google Honeymoon"?

Yup. Experienced it thrice. I think it is more of a Google dance because you'll usually end up at page 2-3 after the temporary event. I think it is simply Google thinking that your site suddenly had some really cool activity going on due to the high number of backlinks in a short amount of time so they gave you a temporary high position. That's what I would always assume because it would usually happen to me when I just blasted high quality links.
 
i think it doesn't matter what. google is always the best. i just love it
 
I get this, especially with EMD's. However, I usually maintain the rankings that I have.
 
LOL !! That happened to me once. I thought OMG, how did I got ranked so quickly and then after 2 weeks I went down to page 3. Then I kept building backlinks and after like 2 months I went to the top once again. Google Dance is pretty funny though :D
 
Yea the honeymoon is great ain't it. That's when the sex is the best, and good times are had. As time passes you find yourself having to work harder and harder just to get a short BJ and eventually you gotta' resort to role playing and all sorts of more elaborate techniques that you never needed in the honeymoon period.

Wait what are we talking about...

I've never heard it called the Google Honeymoon.. that's priceless!
 
It happened to me, keep the link velocity, otherwise you will reach at the 5th or 6th page after few weeks
 
The way it works is Google give a new page a premium placement being based on now and wow, i.e. newsworthy, you then fall through the ranks and it becomes a grind of authority, content and backlinks. Enjoy the ride but prepare for the grind. Yeah, it's a lot like a relationship.

Great analogy. Perfectly true for any site. If you don't give her chocolates/flowers anymore, she'll feel cold towards you and put you in page 2.
 
Lol, i literally google'd this thread before clicking on it, thinking google had some cool type of theme, i typed in "honeymoon rocks" and came across this

But yes, i have experienced this too with some of my clients sites, as long as you build a steady velocity of links, you can actually maintain a high position believe it or not.

Velocity steady and quality wins.
