So this is something I have not encountered before.

My website was ranking at position 3 (it still ranks to some extent), until Google decided to hide it.

If I scroll to the very bottom of SERP it says:

"In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 17 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included."

When I click to include these results my page shows up again at position 3.

The problem is that I usually see Google hiding irrelevant pages from a domain while keeping at least one indexed.

In this case Google completely hides the domains

Any idea why this might have happened and how to reverse it?

According to my Knowledge your website is being filtered out by Google's duplicate content filter, which is designed to prevent multiple pages with similar or identical content from appearing in search results.
It's possible that Google has detected duplicate content on your site or on other sites that are very similar to yours, and as a result, has decided to hide some of the pages in order to improve the quality of its search results. This can be a difficult issue to resolve you can take to try to reverse it ,Try to identify the Duplicate Content using Copyscape or Siteliner and remove it you can Also Concentrate on Building High Quality Backlinks and submit the reconsideration request.

Thanks for you reply.

The content is unique. I find it to be of high quality compared to other pages that rank for that KW.

In GSC there is no information about potential issues.

Interestingly, that page ranks for a lot of long tails keywords as well. It was only hidden for the main keyword though. Longtail keywords are still ranking well.

I agree with @gregstereo... I understand your content might be good.
But it's not the point... scan your important pages and see if somebody copied your content. I hope you get my point.

yes dear you are right google always detect the duplicate content.

These people have no clue what they're talking about. It has nothing to do with duplicate content and it has nothing to do with spammy content. "Omitted Results" is one of the weirdest and most unknown parts of Google algo - and it has not much to do with YOUR content, but rather the keyword itself.

Try googling "Google", it only shows you 60 results and the rest are ommitted. You think ALL the other results are spammy? The answer is no.

Make sure your content is unique and not replicated elsewhere. Consider improving on-page SEO and adding more value to your content. Check for technical issues or canonical tags that might be causing confusion. Monitor using Search Console for any changes or notices.

This is part of a recent update. It was so fucked up. While targeted posts are hidden. Then other articles that are not even related to the keyword/topic are displayed.
