Google Has Released the November 2023 core update

Anyone noticing anything yet?

This core update seems more quiet than the others.

And I've read that some people were already experiencing some negative effects before the core update was even announced. So it may have rolled out earlier than when it was announced.

So far I'm noticing many news site ranking now. That means more sponsored content cluttering the first page.

More spam and old Reddit articles are ranking high in my main niche. Curiously enough, a site in the gaming niche that happens to have a random page in the niche I'm in is ranking above mine.

The content on it is absolute garbage, it reads as though it's been written after a few Jack and cokes.

Seeing big spikes in clicks and impressions on my new 3 month old site. Breaking all time highs every day since 1st of November

Haha, my website's traffic has also dropped.

This isn't fun :(

"If you saw a change after a spam update, our systems might have determined you were spamming or perhaps discounting spam links that might have benefited your site." :( Is it now everyone Disavow links to their sites? :)

My site got a boost and featured snippets. I saw many parasite Seeps shifting to normal niche sites as well.

Lost ~25 to 30% in October, got about half of that back so far. Let's see how the rest of it goes.

they’re trying to combat ai aren’t they.. among other things

yeap they just want to destroy small companies and bloggers

Really great to hear.

Let's hope that this update brings a good Google structure for both user and business sites. :)

All of the updates is an admission that they consider their previous updates to be shit.

They are trying to make people spend on ads before the festive seasons as monetary policies tightened and marketing budget reduced. Their revenue probably experienced a drop or they witness a trend downwards.

If we take a hindsight and look. More people are using AI to answer questions instead of going into individual websites to dig for the answers. The search engines are likely heading towards a downtrend. Helpful content could be useful unique content for their Bard AI to scrape.

I tried the chatgpt tech advisor role and was astonishingly good.

If I'm right, search ads will get less important. The new max performance Google ads seem to combine display, and remarketing. The remarketing mechanism probably explain why they perform "great" in term of conversion, engagement and dwell time. It's a mixed bag of cookies with cocaine.

Social media ads may remain relevant but unfortunately for me, they give high visibility but high bounce rates.

My sites tanked in Sep, recovered in October and tanked again in November. No experts can confirm what really works these days and what used to work maybe counter effective.

Some guys like Kyle roof do experiments to monitor trends but don't see much solutions from him either.
