Hey guys,

So 1 month ago Google hit my website with some sort of Penalty. My website would rank on the first page of google searches, now I'm on the 5th page and sometimes not at all.

I was getting 20-25K views per day, now i'm lucky if i get 5k per day.

QUESTION: If I registered a new domain with .net or .co would that restore my good rankings or should I just stick with my .com and hopefully increase ranking over time?

Work on the Existing Domain. Go to Google Search console to check if any action was taken for your site.

Have you checked your Backlink Profile and see if any of your Competitor have negetive seo'd your site?

For How long you where ranking on 1st page?

I was ranking on the 1st page for about 6 months, it was going really well. I offer free music downloads so often Google would ban my URLs due to DMCA notices. Maybe too many URL's got banned? No Messages from google about an actual ban or penalty but it seems like the only logical explanation

May be Starting over again should be your Best Bet.

If you think you can rank again then go for it and that 1st page ranking again.

I have purchased 100 new backlinks so I will see how that goes. I'm going to monitor the site for the next two weeks - If no improvement then I will purchase a .net or something and redirect the .com to that.

In Both Cases, Just update what happens here.

what was your current linkbuilding structure on this website (offpage seo) ?

I have google +, facebook and twitter pages. As well as a new side website that has links to my main website. I also have backlinks that I purchased before. Is that what you mean?

in my opinion for over 5 years of experience, Google have penalized a hell lot of my sites and keep on doing so. It's better to create a new website. Don't waste any more time and money for the penalized website. Instead use your money and time on building a new one. If you have ranked before you will have like 75% of chance on ranking the same keywords on new site.

But, If your penalty reason was for thin content just add more and more content that can lift the penalty based on my experience.

what backlinks have u purchased and where? If you bought any spammy fiverr gig links then yes penatly is pretty obvious to happen!
For how long has your site been going from page 5 to un-findable, ups and downs ? If its been only a week this could just be a google dance. If you get a real penalty you wont be findable in the first 100 pages i think permanently.

Smells like a sabotage.

I would advise starting anew. Because sometimes other websites would copy-paste your content to theirs... now that your site has been deindexed, your content is no longer original since there's a chance it's being posted by other websites.

The drop happened about a month ago, I only purchased the backlinks when I noticed the drop in views then so it was not prior to the drop.
