Google has finally lost it

Very intelligent statement below!

If you want to fight against drugs, instead of wasting the billions of dollars trying to stop cartels and dealers that will just pop right back up 10 per 1 busted. Put those billions into helping the ones on the drugs. (Not just putting them in jail for possession either) Actually get them help.

If they were to help the addicts, and were successful, then at very least, it would make it alot harder for them to make money, meaning they would have to raise their prices to prices that addicts just can't afford. Then those who didn't get the help, still wouldn't be able to do the drugs, and the cartels and dealers would lose more money.

If theres no money in it, they won't sell it.

People have been known to be brutally slaughtered for just blogging on the cartels...

Our current laws in the world don't allow this problem to be solved I think.
The way I see it you have two choices:
1. Kill them all, user and dealer. Make using drugs as fucked up as messing with children in the propaganda.
This method will ultimately fail though, not to mention it is inhuman.
2. Legalize all drugs and spend 1% of what we are currently spending on fighting the problem on education.
Fair education even, so people can make an informed choice before they decide to sniff some glue.

Anyways, I wish the big G good luck with this, they will need it.

Can Google overcome these things that are so entrenched in Mexico?

I hope so, but I'm not optimistic.

So Google is going against US mandate and actually trying to solve the war on drugs in Mexico?

...So Google has declared itself its own nation with its own agenda, sovereignty, law enforcement, and security force?
 
You can have the best technology in the world, but if the person operating it is corrupt- it is useless.

Messy but somebody has to do something. With all the Mexican news station not reporting on them anymore and more blood shed then ever SOMEBODY has to do something so good luck to them.

It's funny, cause that's exactly what my first thought was - that if the Google leadership does this, that some of them are going to end up in body bags. I'm not an advocate for drugs by any means, but when you go taking Google money and put it towards messing with the cartels - once they identify who is pulling the string, the cartel is going to be aiming for them. I would NOT want to be in a leadership role at Google right about now... (not that I wanted to be 10 minutes ago either).

Remember prohibition? Lots of death and crime when it was outlawed. Now practically everyone drinks alcohol. So instead of fixing people you remove the competition. Legalize drugs. Allow farmers to grow, allow companies to make. Tax it. Put some protections in place. Druggies will still get drugs, yes, but everyone wins except the cartels.


I don't use drugs either, never have or will. I just don't see why America (I live here too) wants to tell people what they can do to their body.

I guess they will de-index their primary keywords and likely ban their AdSense accounts. Looks like they better beware because I am not sure Matt Cutts understands that Panda or Penguin can not break up a drug network like it was a group of CPA Auto Blogs sharing the same Google Analyitics account!

My respects to Google for thinking they can change the world and all, but WTF? Why not do what everyone else does and hire some fat old white men to influence the American Government to change the failed drug policy? They have the money to buy some influence but they are sending it in the wrong direction. Google Fail 2.0.1.5.6.7.8.9.2

I fully agree. The cartels are killers and will kill anyone that gets in their way, no matter who they are. Calling out the cartels was stupid. Google's billions won't save them, if, they become a target.

Anon went after the Zetas publicly, and it wasn't long before it stopped.

Google is going down dangerous territory.

As mentioned above, if Google wants to fight drugs, help addicts recover and donate money to agencies to get better equipment to actually fight it.

My only problem with this is Google is policing the internet, and now want to police the offline world. Good luck with that. Google is destroying it's image.

Both the two cartel federations each make more then Google does and they have hundreds of thousands of affiliated "foot soldiers" in the U.S.
 
Script geeks acting like anti-drug warriors.... Lets see what happens, i bet theres gonna be news about sudden assasinations targeted on google personel if google REALLY is going to insert their spoon into forbidden fruit.
