Google going nuts?

I also gained a high PR "golden" link a few months ago to a new page. The new page has not appeared in the SERP's other than on a couple of dances and only to vanish again. I used my money KW's in the anchor. Should I have just used something generic or even just URL? I am gutted that such an amzing link has had no positive impact. The new page did gain PR4 so I can only image that the new link has passed PR but seemingly nothing else. I will break my hear to remove it! Any comments?

Just out of curiosity, are you checking your position from just one IP? Are you clearing cookies? Is possible different datacenters may be showing difference results.

Duplicate written copy content has nothing to do with this update, it is more in regards to actual Copyright Infringement issues in regards to visual/audio multimedia, ala Movies, Music, Photos, etc. And then the penalty will only be applied if it passes a legality test. Its a benefit and necessary requirement Google had to add because of their expansion with the Google Play market.

I agree with the majority of people here; patience is a virtue. Unless you're 100% sure that no other backlinks have been made in the last 6 months or so, you can't be sure that this change is due to that one link. Regardless, the link is high PR / authority, so if anything, you'll probably end the dance in a better place than before; just give it time.

Was the high PR link from a relevant site or just a random site that isn't in the same industry? What type of link was it (footer, contextual...)?
