Google and the NSA will soon offer Google Glass to lucky NSA+ and Twitter winners.
White House Press Secretary has just proudly said:

"Knowing exactly where everyone is via our well thought out integration of GPS equipped cell phones, secret satellites, security cameras, and drone equipped Argus cameras that record 15 square miles of constant video at a rate of 1 million terabytes a day to our new Utah Data Center is, as you know, obviously not good enough for us. We want to see, record, and analyze what you're seeing through Google Glass since we don't have robotic eyes yet.

As you also know, IBM has helped us implant Verichip/PositiveID chips in more people everyday whose, of course, real purpose is a tracking device. IBM was naturally the company to promote such a technology since they have tracking experience. Their Hollerith machine punch card system was used to track prisoners in Nazi concentration camps, including the slave labor at Auschwitz.

We look forward to new technology that we will use to track and log everyone more thoroughly, and we also almost equally look forward to the seemingly unanimous, thunderous applause and praise this technology will bring since we won't even have to easily persuade people to love it."

you have to win a contest that a ton of people are trying to win THEN pay $1500
 
When I need to see my e-mail or search I will use my phone or computer. When i step away to give my eyes a break, I NEED TO GIVE MY EYES A BREAK.

Its an cool innovation but come on.

Why do they always focus on useless technologies, technologies we don't really need. We need people to go out more. We need renewable sources of energy. Not glasses to digitize our world even more.

I'm not sure if Glasses has this feature, but eventually Augmented Reality displays will have pupil tracking so you can interact with an object by merely focusing on it. Clicking could be done with blinks or a number of other ways.

The technology is very far from useless. And besides, we already are capable of solar energy, we just need to work on implementing it in the mass effect. Think about when software designers get their hands on this, the application use is endless. 3d modellers could sculpt out of thin air, a pianist could play a virtual piano, you could place a flat screen tv on your wall if you wished, so no need for TV's. Life would be like an MMO with different 'reality realms' (servers), and everyone who had the glasses would be 'in' as they would also be able to interact with each other. I've always day dreamed about augmented reality even before I was a teenager. I'd love to one day design (hire me Image-Line ;)) an Augmented Music Studio.

Maybe there will be "eye clicks."

If someone goes somewhere such as walking infront of a business on the side walk or driving down the highway near stores and looks at something (either it recognizes a unique object the ad buyer outs out or a subtle qr like code, or just 100% GPS based), and they fit a target demographic then there will be an "eye popup" with a coupon/discount.

Luddites are probably going nuts over this.

This is looking more and more like something I would buy. Obviously I watched the prototype videos of some guy walking around like robocop and laughed but this looks like its getting to a useable level.

I wouldnt walk around with these things on for fun but a lot of my work is in a high intensity buy/sell shift where I have to constantly update 2 smartphones to scan incoming emails. If they can come up with a sub $500 price tag then I will gladly review it.
 
Based on the Google promo video, one thing that is worrying is that when you ask it for information, it just gives you one answer.

Google chooses the best answer for you.
You have no choice.
Whatever they say must be the truth.
