Not really sure what the best section is here to discuss widgets, but I'm curious if anyone has any insights on rising up the Google Gadgets directory. As it looks, this really hasn't been talked about here before. Widgets have always treated me pretty well as a long-term white hat link-building tactic, but to really make the most of them, it's good to get people actually using them.

SEO'ing for the Google Gadgets Directory Search seems to be the way to go, and that's based on 'active installs'. The total installs that some small competing sites have gotten are on the level of being pretty silly.. which leads me to think there's some way that people are successfully cranking their numbers up. Is it possible that there's an iMacros script or title like Bookmarking Demon that can effectively do this?

Well let me clarify- I'm referring to the Google Gadget Directory, where most people find Google Gadgets to install on their websites, iGoogle, etc. Results in it are ranked based on total # of active installs. My question, is whether anyone has been successful in inflating this number, as to make their gadgets easier to find.
