google forcing SMS verification via mobile

i tried to sign up for a new google account on my desktop, i was prompted with a QR code that leads to their SMS verification process instead of just typing my number and receiving the sms code, is this the end of SMS verification services ?

No, this isn't the end of SMS verification services, but Google has been rolling out more secure authentication methods, such as two-step verification using authenticator apps or QR codes. This is because these methods can be more secure than SMS, which can be vulnerable to certain types of attacks. If you see a QR code, you can usually use your phone to scan it and complete the verification process. However, if you prefer to receive a code via SMS, you should typically have the option to select that method during the account registration or setup process.
 
I've also noticed Google pushing for more secure authentication methods, and it's interesting to see the shift towards QR codes and authenticator apps. Does anyone know if this change is being rolled out globally or if it's still being tested in specific regions? It's also worth noting that having a backup authentication method, such as a physical security key, can provide an extra layer of security for our accounts.

the new account creation update actually makes u send an sms to google instead of receiving it, i just checked on my phone. once u scan the QR code the SMS app opens and you are asked to send a certain code to google. once they roll this out globally most online platforms will follow and i dont see how sms services in traditional terms as we know it would overcome this
 
I buy one day e-sims now to open new Google accounts. I found a bulk seller and if you purchase a large amount it ends up costing about the same as an SMS veirifcation service, maybe a tiny bit more expensive. Switch to that esim and then scan the QR code on the device. You can get a couple of accounts from the same esim/number. A lot more work, that's for sure.
 
You need to try logging in or registering an account from your phone via a proxy in another country; that should help.

Are you interested in just google gmail, or would you use another email service provider?
 
I guess that's only for few countries, includes USA...correct me if I'm wrong.
 
No, it’s not the end of SMS verification, Google is just pushing a new flow where scanning a QR can trigger the SMS step on your phone for security. You can still get codes via SMS, but the QR step helps link your device more securely.
 
The real shit is now google asking for us to send them a text with a specific code. I get these now, even when creating the account from a clean factory reset phone without any proxy.
 
I get this all the time when i create new gmail accounts. Is unfortunately but initially was not these verification i believe is because i create more account on same device....... Not sure how to bypass these as after i create few accounts will not allow even with scanning the qr code to make another accounts
 
anyone know a service that can handle this? most of them in the marketplace are still outdated
 
Older accounts generally do not experience these kinds of issues.
 
nah, it's just another way for google to verify accounts. sms is still around, and services like legitsms are still good for those number needs. don’t worry too much about it.
