If I read this correctly, the guy called GMB profiles, and scammed business owners by blackmailing to derank if they not order his services.

So this is not really about SEO, or that google hates SEO companies.

It's kinda extortion.
It's very common though. From nowhere some dude was giving one start review to my gmb. I asked google to remove it. Happen multiple times.

He must be out of his mind to call people, pretend to be google agent, and threatens them for their business listing!

I dont know if you guys are talking about google business reviews.

But assuming you are. I dont have a huge problem with fake reviews for pet stores and air conditioning businesses and shit like that.

But when we get to hospitals and dentists and stuff like that, man thats just evil. You put some fake reviews on a doctor/hospital, people see the reviews thinking theyre legit, and now they go yo a possibly incompetent doctor who ends up giving substandard care at best, or outright hurting them at worst.

I dont sell google reviews. Never have. Dont plan to.

Google went after that company mainly because that company impersonated Google. Other reasons mentioned are secondary.
