I'm not sure of the ramifications yet but I saw this on CNET:

Google wants to assure advertisers -- who help float its revenue boat -- that their ads are actually reaching their target audiences. To further that mission, it said Friday, it has acquired a company called Spider.io.

Spider.io, which was founded just three years ago, provides a fraud-fighting service aimed at ensuring the accuracy of advertising metrics. Google didn't disclose the terms of the deal, but said that it plans to integrate Spider.io's service into Google's display and video ads immediately. Google will then build out Spider.io's platform to improve the general understanding of the people advertisers are targeting.

Wonder what impact this will have on CPC. Could increase it as the quality of their service may increase but less clicks well be counted. Interesting stuff!

The thing that caught my eye is they are adding this immediately. I personally know a lot of big firms have been questioning Google regarding ROI with AdWord campaigns.

I debated that but not if you are working the system.

Let me clarify that statement, many of us with AdSense campaigns could get caught by this monitoring campaigns and knowing Google's propensity to assume guilt and for being both judge and executioner, have Google suspend our accounts or hold back funds.

Plus by changing the monitoring practices you have to wonder if negative AD campaigns can be created to drive out competitors much in line with what has happened with the creation of negative SEO campaigns. Google has yet to address that problem as well.

And this is happening now so this could all hit the proverbial fan in a few weeks!

I only put adsense on my authority sites, and I put it clear as fucking water. Where it can only be clicked if it the user is interested. Sure, my CTR is around 1%, but I don't run risks and if this gets implemented im sure my CPC will go even higher.

I dont have the statistics, but I believe that AdSense is not the main source of income for many here. Just to compare from my expereience:

1000 target visitors with AdSense is about $5 on average. Same traffic with CPA goes anywhere between $50 and $200.
