How good is google external keyword tool

I am working in a niche with low searched volume and information rich.
while doing keyword research for competitive sites i stumbled upon keywords which have no competition in google tool and huge search volumes

this keyword is to directly related to domain name

competition bar seemed to be

And while this search I came across keywords with no competition and traffic above 100000

and it was hard to believe

while micro niche finder(cracked) shows completely opposite picture
low search volume and HUGE competition...
6600 global search volume and soc 854
12000 global search volume and SOC 65400

I am willing to use these keywords need your suggestions what to believe
or what to use for more accurate and genuine keyword research...

another questions
for being in top 100000 in alexa how much traffic is required...?
no i am not going to buy traffic i just need to evaluate these site that how many visitors they might be getting....

Basic tool over there. I'd try other ones to compliment such as Market Samurai.

okay will do that too..
not comfortable using market samurai.. but will try it out also...

Samuria is KW tool 2.0. Just graduate on up when you feel comfortable.

adword keyword tool is not always accurate
but still you can give it a try because
you already got the domain and as you say there is very low competition
so the best results would be to try it out and get on top
it won't be difficult if there isn't much competition

freekeyword tracker will be another option...they make daily estimation

Forget everything
Try new Adwords Keyword Tool
And see the REAL EXACT numbers.

link for new google adword keyword tool.

Okay u seem to be confused about- Competition and Search Volume.

Dn't rely on the Adwords Tool's bar for checking out comp. Two simple methods, actually three-
  • type the keyword in Google, phrase-match and exact match. See the no. of results it returns. Now, go a step further, use the string: ALLINTITLE:[keyword]. This will bring those pages which actually have the keywordsin title tag that means they are optimising for the keyword These are genuine competeing pages. Make a note of the numbers.
  • Again, stay on Google and check out the no, of Adwords ads. If you see more than 8 ads in total the niche has guys already trying to make money.Dosn;t tell you exactly how big or small the competetion is, but it'll let you know whether the 'empty' bar showed by Adwords Tool is right or not. To exactly asses comp. try the next step.
  • Go to Spyfu.com. Type in your keywords and it'll show you actual no. of Adwords ads- past and present. Going a step further it'll tell you average CPC. general wisdom says that higher CPC means more comp.

Hope this helps.;)

I see difference between the old and the new tool not sure which one is the one i should use.

The old tool will be phased out sooner or later and it doesn't fetch the latest data anymore, you should use the latest one if you need accurate data.
