Google EAT New Update

so they are actually giving away even more of the pie to large corporations

all we have left are crumbs
Such is the truth of life. Have you forgotten how Amazon reduced affiliate commissions even after earning so much money? :D

EEAT eh? As mentioned elsewhere on BHW, one of my sites had had a rankings drop. The topic of the site is based in an industry that I've been involved in for 9 years and know it extremely well.

In contrast, the sites that have jumped ahead of me have got really thin content and the reviews and best of articles have been written extremely poorly. Basically, they've turned the bullet points from the top of the Amazon listing and turned it into a paragraph.

It'll be interesting to see how things bounce back.

It's crazy how genuine sites with well written content, offering great knowledge and advice, can get overturned by spammy, crappy, thin content sites.

Hope your site recovers mate.

And I don't even know whether the uptrend is due to this update or the past ones. Lol, I simply hate reading about G algo updates

For financial and medical content, EAT should come from the domain and the owning company. To work in either industry you have to be trained and qualified, then to trade, work for a company that is approved and correctly insured to offer such services. Google just has to cross reference the various national public listings of companies that have the correct regulations. That's it. They could have a badge on the serps like twitter and FB has, "this company is approved to offer financial services in this region".

If you are going on forums for medical advice and think 2 butter knifes and a bag of lemons will get rid of your haemorrhoids then you are past saving. Anything outwith approved companies should be ignored as EAT.

They have turned this into some fukwittery involving, allegedly, links back to linkedin pages. What they are doing also undermines the legal system each country has. Who plys their trade in health and finance has nothing to do with google. The only possible reason for this mess is the thin edge of some digital unpersoning system

- mini bio
- linked to believable social media profiles that reference actual legit info and past work

shortcut: "lease" someone else's expertise - health and finance sites are already doing this

As I said years ago, the internet is becoming more locked down. It will always be under the guise of something that seems like a good thing on the surface. Monopolies (which will always push the current narrative) will dominate while everyone else will fall by the wayside.

Take the esoteric arts, where no credentials exist. For years I find myself finding say vampire queries are returning Good Housekeeping and other big companies of the sort. Surely, the thousands of blogs of people who are part of vampire societies and study this stuff as if there life depend on it is someone with more expertise, experience, and authority on the subject -- and there used to be tons of these back in the day.

SARCASM AHEAD :)

very interesting. do you know of any cases that have done this and saw their ranking improve? if so, how long did it take?

I think they like bluffing. Ban a few sites here and there, and everyone will panic saying it's because of the backlinks they bought. Everyone will follow the guidelines and less complex algorithms to detect shit from G's side. I think G learns most of the trends and loopholes through BHW and it takes them months to come up with something half-assed to stop the process for some time.
I would agree here. Still, imho, the guideline / the raters activity is more for feeding their ai algorithms with training data, not necessarily for removing manually bad sites from the index. The more, the better. And the most abstract consideration - delivering what the SE user is really looking for - is the training goal. With different measurements, i.e. what the raters are rating. Blackhat patterns evolve as well as technical possibilities (many years ago e.g.: broad availability of link spam engines, now: better or really good (and thin) ai-content) so constant training is required und updates necesarry. EEAT makes completely sense for me, and is deliberate at the same time. Step by step, we need to fool humans / the human-like rating ai and giving more complex false proofs of our precious work ;)

It seems like the sandbox period is gonna increase for new sites.
How many impressions/clicks do you think a site is getting during that period and how long do you think it'll last for?

Yeah, people need to adapt and keep adapting.
