Google Disavow Tool Officially Released

I know that I definitely have some bad backlinks - it will be frustrating finding all of them. If I can get them then I'll be able to use the tool.

I dont really get the point of this other than to identify myself to google or to make google look good.

Lets say I have site thats been hit in serps because of bad backlinks. Google already knows the site has bad backlinks. So now if i say "sorry" or "wow look at what my competitors did to me" those bad links will now be ignored when assessing my site??? Why not just ignore them in the first place as soon as google knows they are bad links.

Penguin is supposed to have affected 3% of search results but as we have seen in numerous posts on here, even a slight change in serps has ppl panicking and blaming penguin. How much more than 3% will this stir up and identify to google as sites that dont conform to their guidelines. .

First of all, there should be no guidelines. People should be able to create whatever website they desire. Just like freedom of speech. People can say what they want. The problem in this world is that we have higher up who want to control everything said and done which is not right. Since when does Google have the authority, right to dictate what is right and what is wrong? Since when do they have the power to tell us in written words what others what to see?
They cant read minds and they still know NOTHING about what the user wants even with all the data they have. This bowing down to the almighty G has got to stop. Even writing about it is entertaining Cutts and his group of web faggots. If eveyone shined them on and moved to other search engines they may come begging for searchers.

Going to sit back and see what happens. I wouldn't push the button right away. Seems like it could be admitting guilt...and who knows what G will do.

I would let others test these waters first. Interested in seeing how it works out though...

Seems like Google wants you to rat out private blog networks etc. since all the latest panda/penguin updates have been epic fails.

If this tool actually worked, it would be way to easy to manipulate search results. If your site was hit by a penguin update, do you think removing links with this tool will restore your premium rankings? Highly doubtful.

What would prevent blackhatters from blasting their sites with 1,000s or links to gain premium rankings, and then once they get hit, remove the "bad links", lather rinse and repeat?

This would give the webmaster too much control over SERPs, I highly doubt this tool does anything but give Google more data to track down blog networks, blackhatters etc.

i submited the link that i got from 1st of this month, caz all were spam by some other guy. hope they will help me or they will hell me? :/

If this really-really works... won't people start sabotaging their competitors' sites?

Which, of course, doesn't make sense.
So I highly doubt it works.

Perhaps it is more like a tool for Google to quietly analyze and study how we tier our backlinks so that they can stop our linking strategies in future.

I highlighted this to show google released it and for up to the minute news, I'd highly recommend you don't use it.

Google also announced your site will never be manually touched or looked at unless you have had a unnatural link mail in WMT. The also said that this is not a direct response to negative SEO.

I'd steer clear from ever using it TBH. But it is a heads up. I can imagine lots of winging webmasters that see a dance submitting huge .txt files of links to Google. Bad times.

Agreed, I also don't see how this tool would be useful in any way either. Changing spam links from do follow to no follow, does that REALLY matter? If you change 10k do follow links that read keywordkeywordkeyword on spammed blogs, blog networks etc to 10k no follow links of keywordkeywordkeyword on spammed blogs and blog networks I don't really see how that effects anyone other than shitting on the websites page rank.

I think this might be a solution to the apr 24 hit sites and all the others that sunk under the Penguin.

On the other hand people uploading files means google will be cloudsourcing a database with "bad properties" against which they can easily do a manual action.

E.g. x amount of people submit privateblognetworkdomain1.com domain in the .txt file with the "bad links" for their sites = > privateblognetworkdomain1.com and all other connected domains to this network get smoked

This tool might be a real problem for SEO service providers if newbie clients and mischievous competitors use it.

Gooogle need to make a statement that they will not ban sites that will be submitted in those lists. Otherwise its just a new channel for negative SEO.

In fact the attention they are giving to website owners to contact first the owner of the property shows that there is likely to be consequence. I bet their logic is "if the guy is not responding and there are many complaints against him, then he should be removed from the index"

For sure it is worth trying...especially for sites that failed to be resuscitated.

Yea I agree with this, it's a completely new angle for them to collect data on.

They can build a separate bad neighbourhood index with this info.

New trouble now -- negative negative Seo :-)

Think I may try this on one of my penalised sites though.

Can you really believe Matt Cutts and his "weather reports?" He talks out of both sides of his asshole.

Quoted from Danny Sullivan of SearchEngineland:

Links suck. It?s hard to get good links, and even when you do, you might find they don?t count. Meanwhile, who wants to be wasting time ?disavowing? links? There?s got to be a better way.

I agree on this! Why don't Google ignore those bad links if they know it in the first place.

When Google started delivering penalty messages in Webmaster everyone said "Don't RESPOND!" and guess what, you were wrong. Google lifted penalties for those that removed the links and if you couldn't they would tell you. Now is step 2, the chance to use this tool and go back to that original portal and now tell them you couldn't remove them so you used another tool to disavow them.

BTW, its not just Google, Bing has had this tool for months too!

On the flip side I am sure they are going to use this data to black list sites but its the market place and you got to learn how to adjust and play the game.

Someone who used this please let us all know your outcome in the next 1-3 weeks, it would be greatly appreciated. For all those flaming Google, like you probably always do, just stop and save it and learn how to work the system...not cry over it.

Well I am going to give it a try. My site was recently spammed by a competitor with over 20k blog comment links with the same anchor text. Prior to this the site had less than 1000 links and only 30% of those were anchors. After the last Penguin update my site went from first page to page 57!! So for me it is worth having a go with this.

Is there a clear explanation of in what format you have to submit the file?
