How many times will a domain go through it?

I use to rank on page one for a lot of my keywords I have on my website. Then after some onpage seo changes/backlinks indexing I was removed from the first page (not deindex).

After around 2-3 weeks I noticed an extra amount of traffic, so I searched some of my keywords in google and found I was on page 1 again for my keywords. For my older keywords I ranked a bit higher.

Am I still experiencing the Google dance?

When you start making tweaks google will re-evaluate your site and it can cause you to bounce around a little. If you're not sure if you're still doing a google dance you need to track your SERPs to see.

How do I track my SERPS? I use google webmaster, but the results are delayed. And this happened yesterday.

I used this: http://www.semrush.com/ and nothing shows up when I search my domain. Back then it use to show one keyword and it was similar to my domain name.
 
the real question here is.. does it even exist. a sandbox, the dance, whatever you want to call it. some believe it does and doesn't exist, no proof of either, but, its worth calling g00gle up and asking why (random site) is ranking significantly lower, in 1 day.. seriously you should call and ask.
 
Stop spreading rumors - we know it exist.
 
I have had my site disappear from search results before for like a day or 2. Its strange but nothing permanent. Not sure what its all about but as long as its not permanent damage is done no use dwelling on it.
 
We dont know exactly why a Google dance happens,but they happen most on New domains that are getting new backlinks.

I never experienced Google dance in Aged domains,but in domains that has less that 1 year,happens when i start link building.

When google dance happen Your domain will disapear from the serps but will be back in better positions.

I am not google robot,but in my new domains the google dance happens 1-2 times after this they become stable.
 
There is no answer to how many times Google will do the dance.

They honestly need to change that term, because even when dancing, no matter how ugly, there is a pattern or rhythm. Google rankings are more of a "roll the dice" kinda thing. You can have odds in your favor like good content, plenty of backlinks and age to a site or domain, but no matter what eventually you roll snake eyes. For others its like rolling 1 on a 20 sided dice.

It's unpleasant, but it happens to the best of us. All you can do is help improve your odds.
 
I really think just like craigslist ... there is no explanation

Seems like you're looking for an answer no one for sure knows, unless theres a goo gle representative here that would like to speak up

I have an idea.... buy a gun , fly to California , and hold up the google HQ until they give you all the secrets to the algorithm ....

then when you get out , make an ebook about it and sell it on DP
 
that guy matt cutts is a red herring. don't believe anything he says. seriously.
 
Guys, I am having the same problem with big G since last one month, I researched and lot of people are having problems with deindexing (whole site, few ranking pages, wordpress plugin pages getting indexed, old domains getting deindexed on change of ownership, PR changes etc.)

Google is up to something since last few days, take a look

I have a 2 year old website that still dances with Google every few months. The Backlinks being made to it have been steady for the past 18 months, but the site usually only disappears for roughly 12-15 days then it's back, so no big deal.
 
Don't forget the so-called Google dance is not just in reaction to your own site changes but occurs in reaction to changes in the competitive sites as well for a keyword. What's your competition up to?
 
The main help with the dance is patience and experience. Consider it a Rite of passage
