Google Dance

At this point of life I’m used to it, im simply affirming that I’m following the best practices for my client sites, and I’ll be rewarded for it in the long term. Even if we wish to do,something what can we do except rant, hence I decided just to trust the process and wait for it to pass

My theory (which I back up with my own data) is that it's common for SERPs that do not meet certain CTR criteria. Basically, Google is unsatisfied with how users interact with a certain SERP. Google re-shuffles results every now and then to see if it can get a better outcome in terms of last-click and CTR. That's why some pages firmly sit in the top 5, while others go 5 -> 20 -> 50 -> lost -> 12 -> 6, etc. When I see this happening to one of my pages I try to re-optimize it for the particular KW the dance is happening for.
This is also a common thing for new sites, where Google wants to "give it a chance" and see how users react, and if it's a worthy site at all.

@miniblicher Unexpected fluctuations in the site ranking.

@Nandhugp Yes, I'm also facing the same issue, I thoughts Something wrong on my site. But I see the continuous ranking fluctuation.

Googly Dance is always innevitable and frustrating when it happens. Googly goes mad and moves my sites from #6 to #30 then down to #3 then to #70 then to #6 again.

They are inevitable. :)

Just ride the wave :)

Does google have night club?

It is the period when Google is rebuilding its rankings and results fluctuate widely for a 3 to 5 days period.

No need to panic. It will be settle down slowly.

Thank you guys for sharing the valuable views Of Google Dance. Especially for @kabe & @WeTake

What you guys are thinking about Google Dance?
Better learn to waltz, or if you or if you want to be really different get yourself some tap shoes

But yes is a thing, and and something we are powerless over that seems to always happen with new clean fresh domains in the beginning just out of sandbox.. this too shall pass

Very common with new sites. My keyword is jumping from 46 then all the way to 90 then after few days it came back to 40.
I'm sorry to ask this question but what is the dificultty for your keyword?

On new sites it seems like there is a overall threshold of how much coverage you get in the serps.

If you are tracking a lot of pages on a new site you will notice that as some go up others will drop and vice versa. some pages jumping from 9 to 40 back to 4 then to 45 etc ... others going from 97 out .... back at 88 then out for a few days ... just say it again at 76 ... now its gone again ... Right now it seems like google is letting about half of my pages in the serps at a time.

i have a brand new domain well about 2-3 weeks old and already started doing some backlinks, my site is all over the place.. how long does this usually take to settle down when it comes to a new site.?

What is the Google dance?

In search engine optimization (SEO), Google Dance is an out-dated slang term used to describe the period of time in which Google used to rebuild its rankings, and as a result of this rebuilding, rankings of Web sites on Google's SERP may fluctuate in order during a several day period.

Even though Google Dance is annoying, the best way to look at it is that Google has noticed your site and is trying to figure out exactly where your keywords/your site/you fit in. This is a good thing though and I typically don't panic when that happens to my new sites. It's expected. Also, the more competitive your KW is the more dance you might get. With regards to how long the dance lasts, some say about two weeks but I've had mine last much longer. I think it really just depends on the site, KW, competition and other metrics but the bottom line is that the volatility in SERPs is absolutely normal for new sites.
