Hi,

I have a site with the keyword domain. Now in the last week Google kept my website dancing in the search results..

It went a highest at no. 18 and the lowest to no 120. But now it is settled on no.66.

It shuffled so much so that in the morning it would be at 18 and in the evening at 110 and then the next morning on 20.

The domain name has got 5 Months old. I have 50 Backlinks to the site and most of them from comments. The competitor to the site no.1 position has 400 backlinks.

Please guide me how or what should i do to get to no.1

Thanks

Well, you said it yourself, no. 1 has 400 and you have just 50. Rock on.

Yep, and if you look around in this forum, you'll see that a million other people have made threads about recent "google dancing"

You're not the only one seeing oddities.

well, part might be which datacenter you are currently querying for google. that, in addition to normal shifting makes it hard to tell what is where.

i've been noticing, since i'm backlink building a site i've had for like 2-3 years, that every 3-4 days i see a shift in what page i show up on. on the most part, i'm only shifting, depending on when i check it, on a range of about 2 pages.

i can feel you, i got a site rank 312 and the next day its out of 1000, i dont even know if i got banned or not.
still waiting to see if it comes back

200th - 160th - 1st - 60th - I await today

Is my site for the last 5 days hehe gota love dancing!

at 1:08pm at no.59 ..
at 1:16pm at no.26

Why does it dance so much?

wow, it really does dance a bit sometimes. i jumped from a couple of target terms from page 5 back to page 11(where i started with it like a week ago), and now this morning i'm on page 3.

the funny thing, i have a site 6 years old that hasn't been feeling the G love lately, but apparantly my link building lately is tipping it in my favor and i'm actually showing up at like page 12 which gives me hope.

Why do people make their lives and traffic bottom lines so dependent on the fickle G God, given all this dancing? People above mentioned they have new domains, aged domains, low backlinks, heavy backlinks, and all manner in between, yet still see bounces all around the ranking disco floor. There IS no consistent logic or science to G's ranking system, or is an algo that keeps changing, so only G knows what it is. Better to just mass submitt and bookmark to 2.0 sites to keep the traffic coming.

well, yea. i see G as just one way to get traffic, and while it's not my only concern, having traffic from there sure doesn't hurt.

it's never good to depend on any one source for anything, let alone IM. that being said, you're better off building backlinks and traffic than watching G's random dance. however, for certain sites where you trying things, or someone's early sites, it's interesting. almost like watching a storm...it's interesting, but you have no control.

What a lot people tend to forget is that when they are logged in at Google their own sites are showing up higher.

better yet just add "&pws=0" to the end of the address after you perform a search to turn off "personal web search"
