Hey there.

My new site (created Aug 2nd), Amazon affiliate, was climbing steady for some keywords, reaching #11 in some cases.

Then it just dropped off yesterday randomly.

The site has 7 articles, more than 10,000 words total. (yes, some articles have about 10-20 affiliate links, all nofollowed)

The backlinks I have are:
2500 social signals spread out via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn (from Fiverr).
A few Tumblrs pointing at it. All expired, high trust flow with exact match anchors.
IFTTT content syndication - I've got 20 networks automatically posting links to my website
3 domains that I've bought - 301 redirecting to my website. Links are all contextual and no spam.

I only have a few soft 404 errors on Google Search console (the CloudFlare error pages, Google crawled them somehow).

So I'm thinking this is a Google dance - there's no way I could get a penalty this early.

What do you think?

Probably is just a dance, in future though I wouldn't simply 301 domains to your site. More often than not you are better off building a PBN with expired domains as the overall benefit will likely be much higher and doesn't leave so much of a footprint (providing it is done correctly obv)

I have a PBN, I haven't pointed any of my PBN sites to my money site yet though. The reason I 301'd these is because my competitors directly link to them so I love the concept of my biggest competitors having a link to my website lol!

But yes you're right, I don't plan on making more 301s for this site.

I have a 5 month old site that still dances. Pops in around #8-#6 for a 16,000,000 search term for a few days, then disappears to #100+. Few days later, comes back in. Rinse and repeat.

Hi,

What's the update on this? Just wanted to know if it was a Google dance or not. I have a site that's currently doing the same thing.
