Google dance but no increase?

When I build links to a page I quite often see a dance but at the end result no change in the serp results. I figure the links are strong enough to cause the dance but why no increase?

I include a screen shot. It's still too early to tell on this one yet, but you get the idea.

This happens quite a lot.

Any explanation?

Actually, this kind of long-term infinite bouncing is usually caused by on-page. Contrary to popular belief that links are causing it.

What's probably happening is that your linkbuilding doesn't correlate to your on-page and you're over/under optimized.

Check out your competitor's on-page.
- word count
- keyword density
- topical relevance

I think you're find that you're not on the "same page".

Exactly what tiiberius said, your on-page is lacking in some way. It could also be site speed compared to competitors or server glitches causing your site to be skipped that day.

Maybe time to do some competitor analysis. Check out their link profile, age etc compared to your own.

Maybe look into SERP Volatility specifically if you haven't.

Yes I thought it it could be building links to quickly as well but at the rate of 2 decent links per week I don't think so.

Does it make any difference if it's a high ms searches word?

Act like a proper launch with variety of links Inc social and it naturally dies down. Trickling two links a week is just gonna keep you dancing every other week.
