hey, is it normal that the ranking of some keywords are going crazy (some disappear or just massive drop) when you added some tier 1 high pr backlinks?

in the last few days i added about 8 high quality tier1 backlinks and it seems like a big google dance on my moneysite.

is it because of the fresh added tier1s?

Hey OP,

Nothing to really worry about here, specially if your rankings are jumping in and out of the SERPS and dancing like a ballerina and its correlated right after building some high quality backlinks. It just confirms the fact that Google sees that your website is gaining some authority and it is thus reevaluating where it belongs in the SERPs.

Just keep continue to build quality backlinks and keep the link velocity steady and consistent. The main purpose of the Google dance is for Google to try to trick web masters into thinking that their link building and SEO efforts are hurting their website rather then helping it.

Once the dust settles you should see your rankings return to a higher position then they originally were! :)

Best of luck,

Just wait 2 weeks for things to fall in place.

Everytime you add links, you will start to dance a little bit. (at least my experience)

As others have already said, it is completely normal. Based in my experience, usually it takes around 1 to 4 weeks for rankings to settle down.

At the end, it should rank higher than where it started. Patience is an SEO virtue ;)

Also to add, If the domain has age it is less likely to bounce around as much!

Very normal indeed..

the google dance is a good thing. i personally hate it when you have to explain it to a client. its when nothing at all happens that i get a little nervous

I would say that is very normal. I won't worry about it.

Haha funny you mention this :) We manage around 80 clients and I swear over 2/3 of them always ask why there rankings are dancing.

It be nice if there was a nice reputable source like SEOMOZ that explained the Google dance. But we all know SEOMOZ would never write anything like this since they are just puppets that report whatever Google's propaganda team states.

Thanks for the answers guys.
so when my website lose traffic after I build the backlinks is normal?

recently I saw a lot keywords dropping. I hope they will come back stronger & higher.

I've been wondering the same about my site. Huge rank changes after adding more links. I was on first page and dropped down to page 11 or less for all keywords. I feel a bit more confident now from reading these replies so will just play the waiting game and see

A bunch of link penalties were issued recently. Did you receive one?

OP just like everyone else has stated, this is very normal, if i was in your shoes, i would build a few more of those types of links and wait for 2 to 3 weeks and see what happens to the keywords, it's only a problem when you have to explain it to a client who is totally new to SEO and do now understand what Google dance is :)

Yes, your website loss traffic it because of the keywords ranking drops. It probably the keyword competition.
Keep tracking your word position and wait for some times. Then start building links from high PR sites. It will come back to normal.

New competition can also cause a Google Serps Dance. Make sure that you are not having a tough competition in the niche/keyword you are trying to rank

rather than worrying about Google dance, build some quality links with great contents. You'll get back hard to hit by any updates.
