But ChatGPT will get a paywall soon I guess ?
If they use an ad model like Google, sure things would get more complicated. But I haven't heard anything like this so far.

Some websites with generic requests could be hurt but pages "best XXX", anything with critical eye and up to date infos will still be searched by internet users.

Too early to make a call.
The teenagers are using more and more Tik Tok as a search engine.
Apple is still sleeping - this is the only company who could compete really hard with Google.
The AI is a game changer but it is hard to make a projection where it goes.
And as written before Google has deep pockets to buy potential competitors.

Quite funny really that Google are going on so much about how they understand content so deeply. Clearly they’re trying to become less dependent upon backlinks as a quality indicator, then a robot comes along that seems to nullify all of their efforts so far. That’s the competition model at its finest I suppose.
 
I remember a conversation I had in 2014 with someone who said self driving cars would be ubiquitous in 5 years. I said that would take decades.

If you asked me at the start of the year how long conversation AI would take to get to ChatGPT level I would have said 5 years.

And don't expect Google to buy this and shut it down as Microsoft are paying for it.

Google are in a really unsafe place. Other assorted small search engines are plausable now. Apple search engine would instantly cut 30% from Google, they hammered FB with ios 14.5.

Yes, those people are naive, even if the tech was perfect nobody wants to be the guy voting to approve self-driving cars if there is going to be a single death on the road involving an AI driver. Not even mentioning the loss of jobs, who wants to campaign with a record of taking away blue-collar jobs?
 
They're scared that ChatGPT can be integrated into smart devices that allow people to ping it for information without going through Google.

It's able to summarize info and give you back results without Google or any gateway (which isn't great for content producers that it's pulling/learning from).

Frankly, I kind of love it - gets you right to the info and Google has been screwing over content creators for a long time, but overall it means less views/impressions for publishers.
 
Is there official ChatGPT mobile app? I see there are a bunch of non official one - looks like a hot niche to tap on.
 
For me, It's normal for google to do that. as you can see the ChatGPT are quite good and more normal ( less robotic way than google) . However, big companies with a lot of money, I expect Google to beat them in their game.
I use Chat GPT more daily for writing, info, and other not urgent. However Google still be my number 1 quick research than more casual type of GPT

Google haven't don't much since last 10 years when it comes to innovation. They need double, tripple code red.

MS got in and realised this could hammer google when the tech got functional.

As someone who comes from the software side of stuff, MS have played almost every tech card right in the last 5 years and are miles ahead of most other places on R&D , even google, who seem focused on a never ending carousel of damaging search updates.
 
I'm using ChatGPT since it's launch. What I experienced:
- I don't even use any GPT-3 web apps anymore
- ChatGPT replaced 60% of my Google searches primary questions starting with "How"
- ChatGPT makes wonders in fields of re-phrasing, summarization, long-tail info lookup and great for creating topic outlines

What I expect in near future which is quite frankly scary:
- ChatGPT will kill a great part of web traffic in the coming years. Why? Instead of Google, people will search in ChatGPT as I do in a LOT of cases (see above)
- Websites like wiki or any long-tail knowledge sites will be fucked up and will be starving because of diminishing organic traffic
- ChatGPT will quickly apply sponsored contents/ads their $42 per month premium fee will be to high for many people
- News sites will be safe for several years but only a matter of time, these models theoretically could be teqched in real time
- Ads on ChatGPT could be hypertargeted since the technology may understand the real intent behind the search

Any further thoughts? Honestly, I start worrying because with Google, organic search visits may also disappear.

A lot of their snippet answers are basically AI but they get it wrong a lot because they don’t read the whole page.
This is why you shouldn’t go by snippet answers and actually click on the links to read the whole page. I guess somewhere the AI algorithms are buggy. Imagine having AI programmed by morons. AI is honestly a fail since it requires so much human intervention.

I think organic search has completely changed... Google isn't going away, remember they weren't the first search engine--just the most accurate. But, they're definitely scrapping results as we know them.

I've been saying everything you're saying about organic, to the point that we pivoted our entire company away from search. We've also started developing GPT-enabled software solutions...

I'm wholly convinced that this is the next digital wave... Like the e-commerce wave of the late 90's and mid 2000's, and for those of us old enough to remember early adopters were banking...
