i heard from some medias that google is going to present today their social network which is "Google Circles".

If thats true we should put an eye on it as it can be the next big thing online.

I think doesn't matter what the name.. but this can be an important quake, we must keep in eye on this..

Well, they own Orkut, maybe they will do a rebranding or something. I don't think they will create a new thing since they have ork

I beg to differ , the name of a product is very important, product naming is considered a critical part of the branding process.

And it seems the 'Google Circles' name makes some sense tho:

"A bit of searching around shows that Google is already using the term ?social circles? for a feature that shows its understanding of users? contact within its recently upgraded social search tool.":

Yeah and they have an Advantage, if they have better privacy handling they could easily move on the block and rival facebook. For #1 Googles infrastructure (server count) is way Superior to facebook, Googles server count make facebook look like a laptop.

They could easily deploy features that wow users and create a mega monster social network. I say don't rush it, let the FB fad wear off a little and then sweep in and control the game.

History dictates so, first it was Myspace, then Facebook, Google Circles? Next? Maybe. I say get back to the minimalist idea and don't push ads for atleast 3 years keep it 100% clean interface and people will flock.

No, google won't be dominating the social networking industry.
Facebook has their status update system patented, so thats not what google can try to do.
They would have to come up with something really brilliant in order to give people a good reason to go with them and not with facebook/twitter.

BTW, google already has a failed social networking site "Orkut" lol...
