I hate how the tabs look for chrome now but I just realized there was a way to change back

All you have to do to switch back is:
1. Type chrome://flags into your browser's address bar.
2. Search for the option labeled "Enable Instant Extended API."
3. Change its setting from "Default" to "Disabled."
4. Restart your browser.

Yes it great that Chrome gives us an option to switch back unlike some other browsers
Also have my chrome reverted back to Old Chrome view

You shouldn't be using the central brain's distributed spyware system, AKA chrome.
