Google Chrome - tracks blackhatters SEOs?

Don't know if its all true but have heard the rumors that google chrome tracks users, what they do etc. So if your building backlinks and doing all that stuff using googles webbrowser is there a chance that google will cut up to it and at some point band your site or penelize it some how? Please share your thoughts. THanks.

wouldn't this cross the line with their whole "don't be evil" thing? Privacy violation and what not.
 
The code is open source and it would be a massive PR disaster if Google did this. I doubt it very much.
 
I installed it the other day ... awesome browser ... sat down at my computer the next day first thing in the morning ... started it up .... started typing in BHW ... got half the front page half loaded and then audibly said to myself ... WTF AM I DOING!!!! BHW in Google Chrome! Perhaps I am paranoid, but .....
 
I honestly think Google tracks absolutely everything.
That's why I log out of gmail when I do anything.
I don't know how true this is, but I have a friend who was at a SEO conference one time, and someone from google was up there. They had a projector on and he said the guy accidently brought up someone and it listed ALL of the domains he owned, many which were privately registered, etc.
Like I said, I don't know how true this is, but that's what he said, and I do know he goes to conferences regularly.
 
I could definitely see them doing this, but as someone stated about, it is all open source, so I don't think they would ever risk this.
 
This would be illegal, i doubt they would track you
 
I've always been kinda puzzled by people that really believe the motto -any motto- of ANY business.. Let alone the "don't be evil" crap... It's a WELL KNOWN fact that chrome has had a tracking mechanism since its inception. It CAN be turned off, but it's on by default.

I doubt they track you to this extend. Its totally illegal and this would be a PR nightmare for them.

Why risk the outside chance that they do track you? Just use Mozilla if you are serious about blackhatting. Chrome is probably a superior browser in my opinion but I'll never use it as long as Google is connected to it. Maybe I'm overly paranoid, but I work too hard at this stuff to take any risks that are easily avoidable.
 
Google adds the option to disable all communication with your browser and google. Search around a bit and you can find 3rd party verification that it truely does what it should. Options for this are located "Under The Hood" in chrome.
 
Yes I used mozilla before and would still use it but it sucks, its load some pages for hours, hate it.. how do you disable all communication with your browser and google?
 
I wouldn't trust it either,it's probably fine but I'll go in the they know enough already camp lol.
I'll stick with mozilla.
 
Maybe this is where the rumor comes from but I know that Google has created some extension/apps that you can download in Chrome and report web spam....just looking at the number of downloads of the apps and it looks like we have nothing to worry about (4000 downloads of the extension).

Chrome is a great browser, probably the best on the market but I'm not going to use it. I can surf the web just fine with Firefox and I can't remember the last time that I used MS IE.
 
Its illegal to track you? Sites track you all the time, they are called Tracking Cookies. And its not a risk to put this behavior in a browser because it can easily be explained away as "trying to provide you with better search results" or "enhance your experience".

Don't Be Evil? Don't Trust Us is more like it. It all comes down to the dollar.

Never underestimate the power of the Big G - "just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not watching you".

BH methodologies are an obstacle and an inconvenience to them and I'm pretty sure they'll go to whatever lengths they can to look after themselves.....oh yeah.....and of course their users!
