Google changes rank when logged in

My wp site shows up as 3rd for my keyword when im logged in to my google acount but when I log out it drops down to 13th or so

anybody else experience this ?

I noticed the same - my guess is that when you are logged in, G traces more information about the websites you visit etc. They trace a hellouva lot anyway, but when you are logged in, they probably trace even more info. If that's your WP blog, chances are you spend a lot of time on this website and that information makes G think that your own blog is relevant to you in the context of the search phrase you type into G.
You could use the G's Ad Preview Tool to get more accurate reading of your SERP, although it is not 100% precise either - it is mostly used by Ad\/\/0rds advertisers to see their ads without accruing ad impressions and lowering their CTR (which in turn may lower your Ad\/\/0rds Quality 5core), but I guess you can use to check your SERP as well. Alternatively, you can use Traff1c Travis or similar software..

Google uses tracking cookies to give you customized results for common keywords you type in. Log out, go into incognito mode, and clear your cache (cookes included) for an accurate way to view your SERP position.

Yea, you can't view accurate information when logged into google. Google's serps are partially based from your cookies and cache.

Also if you have been clicking on your own site in the serps, that will cause it to appear higher up if you're logged in (either through click tracking for the serps that serve a tracking link instead of a direct link, or through javascript tracking).

Yeah, you need to be logged out to find your true position. I remember checking my SERP one day and nearly shitting my pants. Then I logged out and was found back at position 127. Booooooooooooo!!

I had the same thing happen, but then logged out and cleared my files. Tried it again and got the true ranking.

What I do is keep a browser installed that I only use for rank checks and a few misc other things. Just install opera, safari or some other browser that you aren't currently using. I use IE for the purpose myself.

Google support personalize search. without log in google show you normal result but when you log in google account it is automatically support on personalize search and you can also see star in result when you click on it. then google put this site in your favorite list. and next time when you search with same keyword google show you that site on 1st.

On the top right of the google search page you'll see a link called "web history". Click on that and "disable customizations based on search activity".
