No mention of 'Product Sales'. So if you sell something like Car tyres online, you're going to need the rubber analysis, articles on the tread pattern and you'll have to tell people how to drive their cars! And I suppose there can only be ONE seller of each kind of tyre in the world....! What about Pots and pans? I suppose we need metalergy articles and recipes!

Sounds like BULLSHIT to me! People just want a price, a buy button and delivery time! Google are making everybody fill the internet with even more junk even to just to sell beans and buttons on websites ouside of ebay or amazon. Heck. What puke can I write about 'shirt buttons anyway!

It hates answers.com too. I might run a huge keyword list and cache the difference for every domain/kw combination that appears and then query who lost and gained the most rankings.

Are you serious? The internet is for finding information, not for simpletons to buy crap. It wasn't conceived by merchants but by some rather bright people. When I type 'galaxy origin' I don't mean to buy the samsung galaxy tab and even less so some cheap Chinese imitation of it. But you are right, if you post info on how induction plates work people may just find a reason to buy a suitable pan from you to save some electricity.

I've got a huge amount of data on thousands of domains / keywords now and I've actually found that a good amount of ecommerce sites that don't have much text content but are well put together have received a big boost.

The article directories on the other hand, they're down an average of 35 positions per keyword. It's not going well for them.

good news: something changed, and now some of your competition aren't making as much as they did last week, and just decided to quit.

now get out there, figure out what's different, adapt, and go make some cash!

:)

Agreed entirely.

I just took a HUGE hit. Down from $350/day average to $15 so far today (half way through the day.)

Now to figure this out and adapt. Lots of work to do over the next few weeks.

Hey Dannyhw,

Great work with all of the ranking changes. What tool(s) are you using to generate these reports?

I would love to do my own research.

Thanks!

I think as long as your articles are unique and have some "research-based" on it even though it's bullshit, it will work well.

My professional service site went up 3 spots w00t! #6 on first page now. My other two sites are now out of the top 1000. I have always generated unique content, so I'm not sure wtf is going on.

All of my sites have between 15 and 30 pages, so it can't be indexed pages. I wonder what they define as high quality?

I've noticed a pretty big difference in the SERPS. Most of my sites have stayed the same but some have fell pretty far down. They are all unique content sites with similar backlink portfolios, specifically comment/forum backlinks.

Interesting. I think Google is trying to target and eliminate the little fly-by autoblog operation farm sites while putting a small deranking factor to big, established content farm sites in general.

Seems to me this has a ripple effect attached to it. Even solid, all original content sites which may have derived their own rankings in large part with backlinks from article directories or other so-called 'content farms' are seeing their rankings drop too.

To me, that suggests this tweak has an impact on the trust factor too, so suddenly not only is a site like eZA losing it's own page rankings in SERPs, but backlinks from it are much less valuable as well.

That's just my impression based on what I'm seeing and some others are posting, but it makes sense.

What's funny is what this is really going to do is drive up the spam factor on Twitter and Facebook Pages, and open up a larger market for Fiverr sellers.

So, you could spend hours or even days researching and writing a high quality promotional article that won't do dick for you once you publish it with eZA or another site that's been tagged as a low value content farm...or spend $5 to get tons of Tweets and Facebook Page link postings that will carry far more weight now according to Google...hmmm, not sure how that's a good thing for search engines but me likey-a-lot :D

There are solid sites with 100% unique quality content being hit too. I have 2 electronics reviews sites that got from 1st page for ALL keywords to 5th-7th page. One other competitor with a similar site had the same fate dropping to 10th-15th page.

Also mashup sites like AlaTest.com and TestFreaks.com dropped from 1st page to 3rd page or worse.

Lol yeah. They've started to think of themselves as gods, booting authors and acting as some internet authority. Truth is, they were simply used while it lasted and will be send into oblivion soon like so many others (e.g. social bookmarks). But this also means that SEs have identified a new source of reliable links / votes and I don't think it's the voting plugin. Happens every time too. A major shuffle always signifies this. Off to experimenting.

I'm mostly just sore assed cuz I submitted an article to them once.. a very funny article.. that they rejected based on the first sentence.. fuckers.

The Mods are such smug pricks.. I wonder if they realized the only entity that was ever "reading" their articles were search engines? Now even they are bored with them.

Link to the very funny story they rejected. Its got puke and milfs in it..

Ugh, just when i start actually making money online!!! I had a squidoo page on the top of page 2 for a keyword that had 52k exact searches per month!!! It was a clickbank product i was basically promoting and i was getting conversions like crazy. Made more money in the past month then i made all last year!!

Then the squidoo page yesterday dropped down all the way to the bottom of page 6, and today it is in the middle of page 4.

F*** you google!

Does anyone know how a forum is affected by the changes?

That's interesting, I'm on my first website myself and only have one squidoo lens to my name, but my lens actually rose up from the trenches of page 2 to page 1. Similarly, some other "fresher" web 2.0 properties have really skyrocketed in the rankings. Although, like many other people, my ezines dropped away and now I kick myself for even bothering with their draconian staff approvals.

Google, y u so random?
