Over the last couple of days my web hosting company for my main website went offline and and google decided to drop all my keyword rankings I had pointed towards that site, some keywords were ranked number 1 and dropped to page 2

so cot dayum unfair, this type of problem is completely out of my hands, I'm currently in the process of setting of with a new web hosting company, I hope to god my rankings come back

When I log into google webmasters there are crawl errrors for the wbsite which started the day the hosting went offline which is also the day the rankings all flopped

Yeah, you'll pop back up, just give it some time, and setup a cdn or use cloudflare servers to avoid this happening.

Get a reliable host if it means that much to you. Google will restore your rankings once it's crawled your site again. Submit it for reindexing in GWT to speed things up.

Same happened to me and the keywords came back after a few days. This is a legitimate event that happens to everyone - even big sites are under maintenance from time to time, doesn't make them less of an authority.

IF it's happening more often than not then u have an issue.

Ye I am currently waiting on google to crawl my site again, the last time it tried according to GWT was on the 28th which the site was down at that time

try to resubmit the sitemap and submit it to other sitemap submitter to speed up the process. ranking will come back mostly.

I have actually yet to submit a sitemap, should I do this now? Do I just add the homepage?

this is what happens, give it a few days and it will come back, get hosting asap.

Use a combination of cloudflare,cdn,a good host. That is all you need. Goto WMT and click mark as fixed for the broken links.

Yeah that happens when google spiders can't find anything when they go back to crawl your site. Why not build some links to the homepage/posts to get the spiders attention again.
