Google Broad Core Update December 2020

I didn't feel any obvious changes. Impressions and clicks increased slightly from last month, but they still seemed to be lower than August.

Wait for 2 weeks, if it still remains same, then you should try 301 + some backlinks and you need to update your content as well.
 
So far: 60% down on one site, 30% down on another, and a third site is holding up. The rest are too small to figure out the impact.

Just as I had recovered from May too...

Obviously, I'll be watching over the next two weeks to get the full impact.

A few keywords have been taken by amazon so I guess G wants to give Jeff even more money which doesn't make sense.
 
I thought this update took place about 3 weeks ago with all the design changes they have been playing with. I've noticed now SERP layouts have stopped switching around so much and they like the new font they have been playing with as well.. I'm not so much of a fan. I wasn't so worried about this update as I thought it had taken place and things where OK...

Came on this morning to see one of our main keywords I've just dropped off page 1 for which results in about a 30k p.m drop in income if we stay off there. I wanted a quiet Christmas but that not quiet. Not stressed too much yet will wait and see what happens :)
 
Not going to check my rankings for December. Unnecessary tension. Let's see what happens after a month. Until then pushing content in a huge way during the holidays :cool:
 
I've just woken and checked my traffic for through the night. Its taken a terrible nose dive.

So just checked the serps and my rankings have been hammered.

This is honestly the last thing I need now.

If these rankings don't bounce back I think this is the end of my SEO journey.
 
Zero weird changes, according to my rank tracker.

I understand and don't mean to be harsh, but if you drop out of the game because of an algo update, maybe this isn't for you. They have few big ones a year and probably hundreds small ones. Even pure white hat sites aren't immune to this, so stick with it, see what needs to be changed, improve it and regain your rankings. Can't give up like that, no matter how hard it seems. Next algo may affect you positively, you never know. Adapt, keep learning, keep going :).

You are spot on with what you said and I would not let this take me out of the game in usual circumstances.

Its just in the last 2 months most of my other income streams have have been taken out all in a short amount of time to the point I am not only struggling to keep pumping money into this authority site, but also my daily bills.

i say it would be the probably end for me with SEO as I don't think I could invest such money again on a new project.

The update isn't totally complete yet so hopefully i will bounce back.
 
Huge gains for me on 9 year old white/greyhat site, basically rankings are returning to pre-May Core update 2020 positions, where I lost 60% of traffic (gradual decline over the months). After May update I did analysis and came with a conclusion that three different things might influence such a drop - freshness, FID/CLS and https (yeah, my site still on http :)). Decided to go with content update /improved on-site SEO (basically made it better than my competitors), fixed technical SEO issues (CLS is now 0 and site loads in 0.7 seconds on desktop, a bit more on mobile), and left http as-is, which is basically my ace in the sleeve for further ranking gains, together with CDN (for 90% of keywords my site is only one on http ranking on first page of Google :p). No link building whatsoever, only few organic ones.

Anyway, let's hope it sticks, and for all of you who lost rankings, do your own analysis and try to be objective toward yourself - if it's bad/average, improve! If not, just continue with good content and wait for May 2021 update!

Still need to check few other properties, some of them barely touched for months/years (evergreen content) but shitty FID/CLS so we'll see, gonna make an update once I know more!
