google bot crawl requests way inferrior than competitor

Hi,
Somehow, my biggest competitor became my friend and gave me access to his search console, I was hella surprised , google is spoling him hard, like reaaally hard, the guy has no experience in SEO, his website is way slower than mine, he doesn't even have a sitemap submitted and he never made a backlink, but still, he is getting 20x the number of visitors from google than me , when I saw his search console I started to question everything I know about SEO.
I don't understand why google bot crawls way more pages in his website than all my websites, here is a screenshot for my crawling requests report:

one more point, I have 3x more content than him , also, you can see that my response time is better, so I am lost, totally lost , does anybody have an idea how to increase the crawl requests ?

Not all sites are the same. Maybe his articles are higher quality, maybe his niche has less competition, maybe he has better rankings...

Every site have other aspects of checking and then crawling , hence his content shall be good than yours or pages optimization would be good too !

How old is his website, what's # of referring domains, what are those domains, what backlinks and anchors, what's the readability of the content... so many factors that need to be considered to understand what's going on.

Share more info and we can figure it out.

This is interesting. Such a scenario is hard to find, and could bring some light into crawling budget issue. Few questions:

How many URLs are indexed on each of the websites?
How about the length of the articles, what's the average on each of the websites?
Is he internal linking better than you?
What's the domain age of each?
Is the competitor using more categories/tags?
Is the competitor more active on social media?
Is the competitor editing less older articles on average?

I would love to talk about it and perform a thorough analysis.
