lol it's not a bad idea to use blogger and you won't lose money to use blogger rather you will loose money if you buy a hosting.If you wanna try alternate to blogger then try wordpress blog which is free to use.

I don't think so blogger is bad i think it is best for begning as you can see many blogs out there which have tons of traffic even no need to pay a penny for hosting etc 
well, I was talking about this with a friend of mine and he told me he got 2 blogger blogs closed as they were SUSPECTING that he was selling links...! Not a good thing, I don't like to have a blog that is not really my blog and that can be closed anytime for any reason

Blogger is great to use! But wordpress is better! what you have to realize is that you building equity that you can sell. With blogger they can change their term and delete your blog without warning you. Use it as a test subject, and if you start making money move it to wordpress. Word press is easy to use if you need some help let me know.

If you are going to use free wordpress, there's no way you can put adsense there, and no way you can make money, or you can run it for a couple of months before they shut it down.
If you are going to use blogger, it's easy to put adsense there, and you can put banners for you ads on the sidebar, if you are going to use blogger as your landing page or money site, don't put a lot of banners, and large buy now buttons on the post as google will suspect you are a spammer when they crawl your site. So just keep it simple, if you have to put an affiliate link on your post, use google url shortener, only use word links. Don't make it spammy.

Wordpress can seem a bit daunting at first if you jump into it not knowing beans about setting up a site. However the learning curve is pretty quick and you can get great advice right here on this forum.

WordPress is much flexible than blogger, although blogger allows Adsense. But due to some unquestionable reasons, Google due tend to block blogs without letting you know what have you done wrong. one of those disadvantages that is really unfair.

Yeah, I prefer wordpress. wordpress is also good for blog.
