Google Authorship profile image missing?

Has anyone noticed this happened to them?

The google authorship profile image has all of a sudden disappeared from my search results.

It has happened to me before but it always reappeared.

Now it has been several weeks and me and most of my competitors are experiencing the same issue.

Any advice?
