Google Amp help

Hello,

I am planing to add google Amp to my website.
I heard somewhere that adding google amp will reduce the backlinks for that site as it has a google url. So the links I build will not be visible for the amp page and they will not have any effect for that page.
Is this true? Won't it cause ranking drop as the page might lose the authority which gained from backlinks?

Even if its true I dont see why it would matter sinds google prefes AMP pages over Other pages.

Actually scratch that. I did some research and I dont think thats correct.

Well, I do use amp, and they tend to rank better than the normal pages with the backlinks being done on the normal pages rather than the amp ones.
